Which architecture should i use?

I hate trying to look up the architecture types and what is available. Different groups seem to love using different names.

I just got myself a rpi4 that i am going to stand up as a backup rpi server. Its got

  • Broadcom BCM2711, Quad core Cortex-A72 (ARM v8) 64-bit SoC @ 1.5GHz

So does that mean i can use any 64bit applicaion and or OS, or is it a arm thing i need to look for?

Also thinking about going ubuntu on this over raspbien, they seem very slow to adopt packages and it can make some other functions difficult.

I keep finding more and more uses for these cheap little computers.

You can run any 64 bit ARM OS.  Full Ubuntu might be a bit bloated for the pi, but there are pi variants that are trimmed down for the little box.
