tdiguy 99 Posted May 16, 2021 Posted May 16, 2021 I hate trying to look up the architecture types and what is available. Different groups seem to love using different names. I just got myself a rpi4 that i am going to stand up as a backup rpi server. Its got Broadcom BCM2711, Quad core Cortex-A72 (ARM v8) 64-bit SoC @ 1.5GHz So does that mean i can use any 64bit applicaion and or OS, or is it a arm thing i need to look for? Also thinking about going ubuntu on this over raspbien, they seem very slow to adopt packages and it can make some other functions difficult. I keep finding more and more uses for these cheap little computers.
mastrmind11 722 Posted May 16, 2021 Posted May 16, 2021 You can run any 64 bit ARM OS. Full Ubuntu might be a bit bloated for the pi, but there are pi variants that are trimmed down for the little box.
