My gen 2 firestick was having the same issue (frozen video, audio fine).   I sideloaded beta client 2.0.21  but still had to enable the downmix to stereo for the video to playback.

Is there a guide that I could use to talk my parents in their late 80's through on how to install the beta to fix this issue as they are 100 miles away!
