PuffyToesToo 346 Posted May 12, 2021 Posted May 12, 2021 I have set up a secondary server on my network. I have set separate ports for them, nor do they share a database and have separate static IPs. If I add one to my Emby on Roku or using Emby Connect, it automatically removes the other, regardless of which one I am adding. Is there something I am overlooking? Thank you.
rbjtech 5284 Posted May 12, 2021 Posted May 12, 2021 (edited) The client can obviously only connect to one server at a time - but are you saying if you do a 'disconnect', the two servers are no longer listed ? You have to keep manually/discover the server each time ? I'm not familiar with the Roku, but on the Android and FireTV, it keeps all the previous settings - so you can pick the server from a previous list. This is what you want correct ? btw - if they are using separate IP's - then there is no need to use separate ports. Only if they are the same IP do you need to use an alternative port for the nth instance. Edited May 12, 2021 by rbjtech 1
PuffyToesToo 346 Posted May 12, 2021 Author Posted May 12, 2021 I am unable to even add both just so I can choose from them. I am tryin to add two servers to Emby Connect that are on the same network, and adding one, automatically removes the other so that the first one is not even listed anywhere and I therefore cannot choose which of the two I want to connect to. I am not trying to connect to them both at the same time, but have them in my list of available servers to connect to.
rbjtech 5284 Posted May 12, 2021 Posted May 12, 2021 (edited) Seems very odd and not normal as all my clients (android, firetv, samsung) show me all the previous connections - some on other IP's, some on different ports. I don't think it should matter - but has the emby server itself got a different name ? (within the dashboard) edit - seems like you are not the only one - there is a similar (maybe related) Roku issue being reported here - https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/97678-need-to-setup-server-ip-and-password-every-time-roku-app-is-launched/ @speechles may have some ideas. PuffyToesToo 346 Posted May 12, 2021 Author Posted May 12, 2021 Yes, both servers have different names. I also have a server on Emby Connect outside my network, which is in my list just fine, so it's specific to something going on here locally, I just can't figure out what it is.
Luke 42080 Posted May 12, 2021 Posted May 12, 2021 It sounds like there's something we need to look into. Thanks for reporting. 1
Happy2Play 9782 Posted May 12, 2021 Posted May 12, 2021 Don't quite follow, unless this is a client issue as app.emby.media shows both for me. Two server same network
Carlo 4561 Posted May 12, 2021 Posted May 12, 2021 I had this same thing happen to me yesterday at the VA using Android Mobile. Whichever server I would log into would be the only server that would be available after logging out. Direct login to server with different ports and different server names. No Emby Connect involved.
PuffyToesToo 346 Posted May 13, 2021 Author Posted May 13, 2021 I did also try this without Emby Connect and still had the same results. This was present on Roku as well as desktop. I'm more than glad if someone has information on what I am possibly overlooking. I also had my bf try it from their location and they had the same issue. Not sure what else I should be looking to check for at this point. Trying to log into app.emby.media produces a failed password error, even though it is the correct one. Again, I had my bf try the app.emby.media under his username and password and he was given the same password error for his account as well so I was unable to take a look through that page.
Happy2Play 9782 Posted May 13, 2021 Posted May 13, 2021 Not sure as My Roku can connect/switch to any of my network servers and show on the select server screen once I have added them (currently showing 3). Did not test Connect at all on this local Roku.
PuffyToesToo 346 Posted May 13, 2021 Author Posted May 13, 2021 I'm pretty stumped myself, so hopefully someone will be able to chime in with some suggestions. Thanks H2P
