Popularity/review ratings metadata seem to be spotty and I'm not sure why - popular movies, bad movies, auto-matched movies, doesn't seem to matter.  Some have ratings, some have none, some have only one rating, some have two ratings.

  1. Is there a way to consistently get ratings?
  2. Some have Rotten Tomatoes rating, but it is the Tomatometer rating - is there a way to get the 'audience score' rating instead?

Ratings are dependent on providers TMDB, OMDB at the time the item is imported.  As for RT rating comes from OMDB when available not Rotten Tomatoes itself, just like nothing comes from IMDB either.

So is there are issue you would have to go over specific example and they can be verified via their returned api metadata.

Example OMDB

How to I invoke the API call to get the data?

I went to the OMDB website for the example above but technically you can look at what is returned in you cache folder.

You can also look at the log when items are processed to see the call that is made and click on it to look at the data also.

@Happy2Play So, here is a specific example.  I found a movie that doesn't show any ratings/score in Emby.  Both TMDb and OMDb have ratings assigned.

Emby downloaded JSON from both providers.  The OMDb file does have RT ratings (perfect!), but I could not find any rating/score in the TMDb file.  Thus, it looked like Emby used the TMDb file to get the meta data.

  1. How can I know what provider Emby used for the meta data?  (Old server logs are gone.)
  2. If both providers had data, why did Emby use the one it used?  (It is not consistently using the same provider.)
  3. Can I tell Emby to use another provider's info for a particular movie?
  4. Any idea why TMDb doesn't put the score in the JSON if it has a value??

However you've configured it in the settings for your library.

It depends on the order of priority you've set in the settings for the library.

On a per title basis, not really, no. It goes by the settings for the library.

I have TMDb first, OMDb second.

So how do we explain that the user score from TMDb was not used?  TMDb doesn't supply it, or Emby doesn't consume it?

As a counter-example, I found a movie that does have RT ratings in Emby. This movie is in both Db's.  Since TMDb is first, how did the RT ratings (from OMDb) get in there?

I can't make sense of it.

What is the first rating, what is it from?  image.png.ba1b1ec236cc75201ea8eeafeb1098eb.png   The "8" is not the TMDb user score.

Based on the information supplied, I can't explain it. Maybe you had a preexisting nfo file and it contained the rating, so that's where it came from. There could be any number of things. If we're talking about an event that occurred in the past, all we can do is speculate.

But if you can get it to happen again with a new title, then please go over a specific example and attach the information requested here:

Thanks.

For a counter-example, you can use "Dances with Wolves" (1990).  That is what I got the last picture from.

"Incredibles 2" (2018) was recently add to the library, and it doesn't have any rating.  Neither does "The Three Musketeers" (2011) (with Logan Lerman), and it is missing actor info.

Well since this inform is only available via OMDB it is gotten do to missing information on/from first provider.  So all possible information comes from first provider, if there is information not available then next provider is tried for the still missing info and so on if more providers are available.

Would need the logs for when the items were imported.
