justinrh 260 Posted May 10, 2021 Posted May 10, 2021 Popularity/review ratings metadata seem to be spotty and I'm not sure why - popular movies, bad movies, auto-matched movies, doesn't seem to matter. Some have ratings, some have none, some have only one rating, some have two ratings. Is there a way to consistently get ratings? Some have Rotten Tomatoes rating, but it is the Tomatometer rating - is there a way to get the 'audience score' rating instead? 1
Happy2Play 9783 Posted May 10, 2021 Posted May 10, 2021 Ratings are dependent on providers TMDB, OMDB at the time the item is imported. As for RT rating comes from OMDB when available not Rotten Tomatoes itself, just like nothing comes from IMDB either. So is there are issue you would have to go over specific example and they can be verified via their returned api metadata. Example OMDB Quote {"Title":"Mortal Kombat","Year":"2021","Rated":"R","Released":"23 Apr 2021","Runtime":"110 min","Genre":"Action, Adventure, Fantasy, Sci-Fi, Thriller","Director":"Simon McQuoid","Writer":"Greg Russo (screenplay by), Dave Callaham (screenplay by), Oren Uziel (story by), Greg Russo (story by), Ed Boon (based on the videogame created by), John Tobias (based on the videogame created by)","Actors":"Lewis Tan, Jessica McNamee, Josh Lawson, Joe Taslim","Plot":"MMA fighter Cole Young seeks out Earth's greatest champions in order to stand against the enemies of Outworld in a high stakes battle for the universe.","Language":"English","Country":"Australia, USA","Awards":"1 nomination.","Poster":"https://m.media-amazon.com/images/M/MV5BY2ZlNWIxODMtN2YwZi00ZjNmLWIyN2UtZTFkYmZkNDQyNTAyXkEyXkFqcGdeQXVyODkzNTgxMDg@._V1_SX300.jpg","Ratings":[{"Source":"Internet Movie Database","Value":"7.1/10"},{"Source":"Rotten Tomatoes","Value":"55%"}],"Metascore":"N/A","imdbRating":"7.1","imdbVotes":"2,996","imdbID":"tt0293429","Type":"movie","DVD":"23 Apr 2021","BoxOffice":"N/A","Production":"Broken Road Productions, New Line Cinema, Atomic Monster, Warner Bros., NetherRealm Studios","Website":"N/A","Response":"True"}

Happy2Play 9783 Posted May 10, 2021 Posted May 10, 2021 I went to the OMDB website for the example above but technically you can look at what is returned in you cache folder. You can also look at the log when items are processed to see the call that is made and click on it to look at the data also. 1

I found a movie that doesn't show any ratings/score in Emby. Both TMDb and OMDb have ratings assigned. Emby downloaded JSON from both providers. The OMDb file does have RT ratings (perfect!), but I could not find any rating/score in the TMDb file. Thus, it looked like Emby used the TMDb file to get the meta data. How can I know what provider Emby used for the meta data? (Old server logs are gone.) If both providers had data, why did Emby use the one it used? (It is not consistently using the same provider.) Can I tell Emby to use another provider's info for a particular movie? Any idea why TMDb doesn't put the score in the JSON if it has a value??
Luke 42081 Posted May 18, 2021 Posted May 18, 2021 Quote How can I know what provider Emby used for the meta data? However you've configured it in the settings for your library. Quote If both providers had data, why did Emby use the one it used? It depends on the order of priority you've set in the settings for the library. Quote Can I tell Emby to use another provider's info for a particular movie? On a per title basis, not really, no. It goes by the settings for the library.

TMDb doesn't supply it, or Emby doesn't consume it? As a counter-example, I found a movie that does have RT ratings in Emby. This movie is in both Db's. Since TMDb is first, how did the RT ratings (from OMDb) get in there? I can't make sense of it. What is the first rating, what is it from? The "8" is not the TMDb user score.
Luke 42081 Posted May 18, 2021 Posted May 18, 2021 Based on the information supplied, I can't explain it. Maybe you had a preexisting nfo file and it contained the rating, so that's where it came from. There could be any number of things. If we're talking about an event that occurred in the past, all we can do is speculate. But if you can get it to happen again with a new title, then please go over a specific example and attach the information requested here: Thanks.

That is what I got the last picture from. "Incredibles 2" (2018) was recently add to the library, and it doesn't have any rating. Neither does "The Three Musketeers" (2011) (with Logan Lerman), and it is missing actor info.

Well since this inform is only available via OMDB it is gotten do to missing information on/from first provider. So all possible information comes from first provider, if there is information not available then next provider is tried for the still missing info and so on if more providers are available. 12 minutes ago, justinrh said: For a counter-example, you can use "Dances with Wolves" (1990).
