Emby TV Show/Movie Viewed Count Problem

Hello.

I have Emby Premiere Server for Windows - 4.5.4.0, on a Server 2019
I use Emby on my Samsung Smart TV - 1.0.88 (the only one offered if I uninstall and reinstall it)
TV is a Samsung 65' - QN65Q60TBFXZA -  software T-NKLAKUAC-1460.9,BT-S

When I play a movie or TV show, either on the Emby Server or on the TV...the little green circle with the 1 over the episode doesn't go away after it's done playing. I have exit the series (or movie), exit the category and go back in from the root of emby where it shows my tv and movie categories for it to acknowledge it's been played and go away.

Now I could swear this hasn't always remained that way, but to be honest, I'm not sure.

I think something might be wrong, but I'm at a loss to be sure and then at an even bigger loss on how to figure it out and troubleshoot it.

Anyone have some advice or help?

thanks

I've attached the logs.

But as I Said, I'm not sure this is a problem or if this is how it operates updating...my memory is a bit fuzzy on the whole thing at this point.

Good evening,

I'm not sure if I'm misunderstanding, but the green check sign means that you have watched the episode or movie, the ones that you have not watched should not have green check marks.

May need specific examples, screenshots are usually best.  But it sound like the client is not updating that specific view.

Misinthe - no, it's the green check mark I'm referring to, it's a green circle with (1) on it for an episode under a TV series. If I play a movie, it also doesn't update to show I've watched the movie until I back out to the root of my emby with all the categories, then when I go back into movies, it shows it was played.

Sorry. I may not have been clear in my original post.

I'm not sure how useful a screenshot would be...it shows the played button as played, and if I back out, you can see it still show a green (1) on the episode and if I back out to the root and go back in, it's cleared as I think it should be....it's not like an error or anything I can really show and make it clear.

it does it when I play something directly on the server as well, not just the client. Let me see if I can figure out how to do some screenshots that might prove useful.

Can you show us a specific example as what you are describing I do not see.

Hi.  That is an unwatched count and should show on a season or series but not an episode.  An episode would show the green check when watched.

Some screen shots would really help.

Thanks.

Pretty sure it's just not updating the view he's looking at.  If you go back to the main menu then go back to the same page it WILL have the correct marking then correct?

Cayars - Yeah, it's the count now updating, that's correct and succinctly put...if you look at the pictures I posted, from left to right...you can see...before played...sorry, I messed up #3, but it hadn't been played...but 4 show it has been played...and if I back out, it looks like 3, 2 and then 1...and if I go to the root, it all looks good.

It does that on my server and it does that on my TV...however, I can get the server to update correctly for awhile if I restart the Emby service or reboot the server...though the TV never updates quite right, without me going back to the root categories, even if I uninstall and reinstall the app.

So you are saying every episode in Season 3 is watched?

This is only a problem immediately after playback, correct?  IOW - the screens just aren't refreshing the status without you backing out and coming back in?

Happy2Play - The Last episode, 13 is the one that originally wasn't watched. Then I watched it...and if I back out to the category, it still shows as unwatched, but if I go a step further, to the root of all categories, it then gets updated - on the tv and server.

ebr - yes, that's correct...I have to go to the root that shows all my categories and go back into the tv show folder for it to have refreshed correctly and then it shows no new episodes (of FBI in this case)

Thanks for the info. We'll look at improving the dynamic refreshing of that value after playback.
