fxwegr 6 Posted May 5, 2021 Posted May 5, 2021 First a thanks for the new release of Androed TV. A great progress. However, there is still a big wish open: Like the WEB interface, Android TV should also be able to process HTML tags. Unfortunately it does not recognize the tags as such, but treats them like normal text. For clarification I have attached two screenshots. It would be nice if the problem could be solved with the next release. Regards Reinhard
Sammy 790 Posted May 5, 2021 Posted May 5, 2021 I haven't seen this. What version of Emby for AndroidTV and what device are you using? Also, turn on logging in the app if it isn't already on and then send a log, posting back here the time and Emby Username which you are logged into.
ebr 16176 Posted May 5, 2021 Posted May 5, 2021 Hi. The Android TV interface is not HTML so you are correct - it will not recognize those tags.
ebr 16176 Posted May 5, 2021 Posted May 5, 2021 1 hour ago, Sammy said: I haven't seen this Probably because you don't have html tags in your metadata.
fxwegr 6 Posted May 5, 2021 Author Posted May 5, 2021 I use the device Sony TV KD-48A9, installed is Emby Android TV 2.0.09g. The behavior I described is old, and was already present in previous Android releases. In contrast, in Emby Web-Inter the processing of WEB tags works without problems. I think the Android client and the WEB client should give the same output.
Carlo 4561 Posted May 5, 2021 Posted May 5, 2021 The problem with this thought is that the web uses HTML as formatting but apps on MAC, Linux, Windows, etc do not. You do not want to put HTML or other markup language in the descriptions or other metadata as this won't work across the different apps as you will get the pure text entered.
fxwegr 6 Posted May 5, 2021 Author Posted May 5, 2021 OK, I understand. This is a major construction site. But it is a little smaller, in that it already works in the Windows client (Emby Theater) as I expected. Basically HTML is not processed by WEB but by software, like Firefox, so with a program. Clients of the Emby server are programs and should be able to process HTML. Partly they do it already. Therefore I still hope for a solution. A hint: Rome was not built in one day either!
fxwegr 6 Posted September 20, 2021 Author Posted September 20, 2021 Surely the next release is in development. Therefore, I want to remind you again about this problem. I sincerely ask to bring this problem to a solution.
ebr 16176 Posted September 20, 2021 Posted September 20, 2021 Hi. This app is not designed to interpret HTML. However, it will recognize <br/> in overviews now for creating new lines.
fxwegr 6 Posted September 21, 2021 Author Posted September 21, 2021 Thank you. Not being able to format longer meta data texts is an unattractive drawback. This is not appropriate for a product like emby. I hope that this will be possible in the future.
