HDHomerun - No direct play???

Does Emby not support direct playing of hdhomerun?

I am using a Nvidia Sheild.

So I figured out how to direct play.

Just surprised it doesn’t auto detect this.

Hmmmm.... so in order to pause I need to turn transcoding back on???

It isn't transcoding; it's remuxing on the fly to direct stream. There's no quality loss but rather a repackage to h.264 from mpegts.

The dashboard says "Transcoding".

Did you explore the stats feature in the video player to learn why it was transcoding?

Or, right there on the dashboard there is an "i" button.  You can press that for more info.

I will take a look again once I'm in front of the TV and run through the test again.

I apologies guys, when I pick the switch playback mode it changes to direct streaming.

this gives me the ability to pause and rewind. Is it not possible to have this on by default so this pop up doesn’t come up?

Going from mpegts to h.264 would be the very definition of a transcode.

Have you explored SETTINGS->LIVE TV menu in the app?

I have, and the only option I recall is telling it to direct play. It's either a check mark or not a check mark.

Correct.  Turn that option off if you want it to remux (for seeking).

Okay thanks, I guess I have to decide if I want slower tuning or not.

It depends on your normal usage.  My advice would be to leave the direct play on and only engage the seek mode when you really need it - unless you are in the habit of always pausing your live TV.  In that case, I would leave it off.
