What are best settings for stereo?

I only have stereo for sound.  I do not have surround.  If there are multiple sound streams in a video file, in emby can you pick which audio stream to play?  How?

Inside a video, which of the popular audio streams are best for stereo if only surround streams exist?

What are you playing from.. Computer or Phone.. WebUI or App?

USUALLY.. 5.1 and 7.1 is downmixed to the two channels if your output on the device/machine is 2 channel. If you have multiple audio tracks on a video.. the smallest one usually is the one to choose.. ( and states 2 channel or channel number, stereo or mono ) and would be geared for two channel volumes.. or track settings..

5.1 sometimes sound as though the vocals are lower.. but you get high definition sound and BIG sounds when events occur. This is because of how the tracks are made and it being sent to different types of speakers or channel output..( subwoofer, L, R, C..etc ) when it is downmixed ( using Channel Mapping ).. this volume level may not change.. You can get clipping unless specific channel boosting is applied )

I still like it.. but because of OTHER PEOPLE.. ( LOL ) I usually have alter the volume level a lot.

For me I don't worry about it.. unless I am missing things.. In the old days.. downmixing wasn't there so you would loose channels.. or part of the sound. Now that is usually not the case.

I figured out how to select audio streams.  I click on the musical note symbol in the bottom right of the screen, near the timeline.  But sometimes it does not show any choices and sometimes it does.  Maybe if there is only one audio track is does not show any choices - not sure.

Hx thanks for reply.  My server is Unraid NAS with ethernet to new (2021) LG TV.  The TV runs emby client inside the TV itself (I think it uses the TV's built-in LG WebOS ?).

With my stereo, when playing music only, like FLAC file, I can use some very high end (expensive) equipment, that reduces noise and nasties, going from my Unraid NAS to a special music computer (Auralic Aries G2) located near the DAC, amp, and speakers.  Currently, I can use my high end DAC, amp, and speakers when playing videos w Emby.  It does sound good.  But probably not quite as good as when I play stereo FLAC thru the G2.

Yes that is correct.
