Just wanted to say whoever took the time to figure out how to make the delete feature actually utilize the Windows Recycle bin is a hero.

Didn't even know that was possible, for software running as a service.

Hi, I wasn't aware this was happening when running as a service (yet), but thanks for the feedback.

Perhaps it's a Beta feature, and I didn't realize.

Most definitely running as a service, tho.

You have to watch NAS systems which do not have this recycle bin feature.. like Windows.. This was one of the reason I thought it was a good idea to remove deletion capability from all accounts, even admin.. and then leave actual deletion from the filesystem.. to the filesystem.

Hm.   I had just had a deletion session when I read this, and I see nothing in the recycle bin (I have Emby running as a service).

I think maybe it's a Beta feature.

I thought maybe it'd always worked like that, and I'd never noticed; I only have deletion enabled on my photo library, for cleaning up mobile uploads.

I dunno what's going on, then.

I tried it again, this morning.

Took some throwaway photos with my phone, waited til they got uploaded, deleted them from the webui, and they showed up in my Recycle bin.

Windows 10 Pro x64 19042.928 if that makes any difference.

Do you have the Service running as a particular user? Or as the Local System account? That might make a difference.

Also Win10 Pro; running as local System.

I was deleting recorded shows; I suppose there might be different code for deleting in different places.

I actually have it running as the admin user.

That might be the difference, but I would just leave it alone until it's an announced feature.

If Luke was surprised to hear it's working, it's obviously not ready for prime time.

I could be wrong but I don't think recycle bin is available to system accounts but only user accounts (which the admin account is).
I'm actually surprised this works when running as a service to be honest.
