Hi, I am a new Emby user and I can say I am impressed with it.

Thanks you Emby developers for everything you are offering us 🙂

I have been using Kodi for a long time and I rely to nfo files (it's my preferred choice for dealing with my media).

My issue, Emby doesn't support various nfo tags like Kodi does which are essential for me for dealing with my media.

I am not asking for tags that are handled differently in Emby.

I am not asking for example Emby to support the ratings tags of Kodi nfos, I can get ratings from my nfos in Emby if I add the ratings tags Emby supports.

I am asking for support for tags that Emby has no way to be imported.

I would like to be able to import artwork information for my nfo files like I can in Kodi.

These are the nfo tags I am talking about and thank you in advanced for any reply.

Kodi can read this kind of artwork from nfos, Emby can't and since I have my own artwork uploaded online, I really wouldn't want to rely on local artwork.

  <thumb aspect="landscape">https://mysite.com/landscape.jpg</thumb>
  <thumb aspect="banner">https://mysite.com/banner.jpg</thumb>
  <thumb aspect="clearlogo">https://mysite.com/clearlogo.png</thumb>
  <thumb aspect="clearart">https://mysite.com/clearart.png</thumb>
  <thumb aspect="discart">https://mysite.com/discart.png</thumb>

Latest versions of Emby can read collections from the nfo, but it has to rely to TMDB to find artwork and can't read collection artwork from movie nfos like Kodi does.

Kodi has the ability to try to get stream details from the nfos when it deals with strm files or any media that fail to be added from the media file.

I mean that Kodi adds the stream details from the nfo files if the tags are avaiilable wen it deals with strm files.

  <fileinfo>
    <streamdetails>
      <video>
        <codec>h264</codec>
        <micodec>h264</micodec>
        <width>1280</width>
        <height>544</height>
        <aspect>2.35:1</aspect>
        <framerate>23.976</framerate>
        <default>True</default>
        <forced>False</forced>
        <duration>107</duration>
      </video>
      <audio>
        <codec>aac</codec>
        <micodec>aac</micodec>
        <language>eng</language>
        <channels>2</channels>
        <samplingrate>48000</samplingrate>
        <default>True</default>
        <forced>False</forced>
      </audio>
      <subtitle>
        <codec>subrip</codec>
        <micodec>subrip</micodec>
        <default>True</default>
        <forced>False</forced>
      </subtitle>
    </streamdetails>
  </fileinfo>

Hi, image urls are possible for the future.

fileinfo - probably not. We get that ourselves with ffmpeg and we need that to be accurate in order for emby features to work. If we start reading it from nfo files then we're going to get hit with a lot of troubleshooting when users report "not working", due to incorrect information in the file.

Thank you for your reply.

I totally understand that streamdetails tags may not be something you would consider to add.

Thank you for considering thumb tag support, especially for collections it is very needed for me since I don't want to rely to TMDB or any 3rd party online service for my "final" nfos.

Also I forgot to include tv show examples, season examples, episode examples and actor examples,, sorry about that.

Thank you again for Emby🙂
