Can't get Emby to stop writing posters to Media folders

Hello all

At some point a while back I had enabled emby to sideload artwork next to the media. Recently I decided I didn't want this, and disabled this feature as well as deleted all the poster.jpg's from the folders. Despite doing this, emby still sideloaded the artwork, and I can't figure out why. Is there some other step I'm missing?

If I make the media mount "read only" will this force emby to write to it's local metadata instead or will it break something? Thanks in advance.

Hi there, can you please go over an example? Where exactly did you disable it?

Sure, if I go to settings/library, click the 3 dots on each library then edit, then untick "save artwork into media folders."

It is probably saving this to the metadata folder... You should have turned off the metadata settings for the Library as well.. These items can also be in the cache.

But what is an example of a movie getting a poster in the media folder?

Oh, today "The Power (2021)" added poster and background jpgs. Seems to be for newly added content.

Where did it add those files?

Sideloaded next to the media mkv file.

Can you show a screenshot of the settings for the library in emby library setup?

How many emby libraries have you created? did you check the settings for each library?

Yes I checked setting in each library, but that poster generated above was from library setting screen shot I sent you

Also fwiw I tried testing making the media mount RO. Normal full scan is ~15m or less. After an ~2 hours, at 14%

Perhaps something else put the image there and not Emby? Please attach the emby server log from when it was imported. Thanks.

Emby would see the RO and throw an error and write to local metadata/library folder, the log would reflect this.  Now if image already exist with media this this is irrelevant as Emby will continue to read them.

Sorry for busy with other projects. Ended.up.just making the docker mapping read only so emby couldn't write there. There's no other media apps on this server so I know it was emby writing it, but I couldn't find any combination of settings to get it to stop other than to make the share read only.
