Next up tv defaults to 1080p

On the homepage in the next up tv widget, if I have both 1080p and 4k files it defaults to 1080p and there is no option to select 4k. Is it possible to default to 4k instead?

Hi.  What do you mean by "it defaults to 1080p"?   Are these multi-version items or setup as different items?

The server has both 1080p and 4k versions of many movies and tv shows. The movies have multi version items which is fine as I can go to the movie and then select the version I would like to watch.

But the tv shows have different items/listing for each release which means there can end up being many listings for one tv show... and in the next up tv widget there is no possibility to select a different release/version/resolution

If you click on it and go to the detail page, there is not a drop down to select the version?

For movies there is the drop down to select version which works great but not for tv shows. Each version of the same tv show has its own page. E.g. in my favourites I have multiple listings for the same tv show, one for each version... 1080p/4k etc.

The naming convention for multiversions of TV shows is different from that for movies, but is described in the TV Naming Guide.  It operates at the episode level, of course, so you have to select the episode details screen to make your selection before viewing.

I have used it, so I'm happy that it works.  Here is an example:

which gives:

Note that the "-" is not seen as a separator - the description is simply the part that varies.  This means that you must avoid having descriptions with the same first letter or word!  When necessary I get round this by always numbering the options (not required for this example).

Unfortunately as I am not administrator of the server I don't believe its going to be possible to update the naming convention of all of the tv shows of which there are many. I assume less administration is required for movies naming convention as that is working perfectly, yet the tv shows are more of a mess.

Ok I would send this feedback to the server admin. Thanks.

BTW, here is an extreme example of how not naming the options properly can let to a messy outcome.  These files:

lead to this dropdown:

There is no version drop down on any of the tv shows on the server, probably because the naming convention is not being followed whatsoever. So instead we just have an entirely separate listing for each version of the same tv show, which in some cases can end up being as many as 6 separate version listings.

Yes question has been answered, thanks for replies. Is it possible for tv shows to follow a similar/same naming convention as movies? Or maybe not possible?

It's a little tricky because episodes already have their own naming conventions so that we can determine the season and episode numbers from the file name.
