arrbee99 1817 Posted April 25, 2021 Posted April 25, 2021 Generally I prefer when adding lots of stuff to just shutdown Emby, add and then restart. It finally occurs that it might be easier to go to the relevant library, say TV, and just untick 'Enable real time monitoring'. But would that work ? The comment underneath talks about changes to files being processed immediately, but does changes also include the adding of items ?
arrbee99 1817 Posted April 25, 2021 Author Posted April 25, 2021 Looking in the knowledge base, it says - 'To have Emby monitor changes to files and addition of content, real-time monitoring should be enabled. Note: This option is only available on supported file systems. You should restart your Emby Server after changing this option' So unticking the option should tell it to ignore media as its being added, but I need to restart the server which I was hoping unticking would avoid. Oh well, such is life.
Luke 42083 Posted April 25, 2021 Posted April 25, 2021 Why do you think you need to restart the server?

Carlo 4561 Posted April 26, 2021 Posted April 26, 2021 I honestly don't know if a restart is still a requirement or not as that was written many versions ago and this might have changed. But why do you think you need to turn off RTM in order to add new media? That's kind of the point of the feature to see and add new media. I typically add 20 to 30 movies at a time or maybe 100 episodes at a shot and never do anything special.
arrbee99 1817 Posted April 26, 2021 Author Posted April 26, 2021 I'm sure I don't need to, but its become a habit. I seem to have developed a dislike of the thought of Emby analysing and writing stuff while I'm also writing stuff to more or less the same location at the same time and everything intermingling.
Carlo 4561 Posted April 26, 2021 Posted April 26, 2021 Yea, cause computers are so bad at doing multiple things at the same time. That is a strange habit, you really don't need to worry about.
