Episode appears in next up, but not library...Why?

I can't figure out why one of my Goldberg's episodes isn't appearing in the library. I see it in next up, the video file exists, but it's not showing up in the library. I pulled it out of the directory, re-scanned, put it back in the directory, scanned again, but it still won't pick it up. how do I get Emby to recognize this episode (season 8, episode 18)?

The filetype is what I see right now.. Have you tried converting it? Possibly to MP4.

I copied it and changed the extension to mp4, and that didn't work. Didn't convert, but I have thousands of ts files, why would this one be an issue.

It seems it's not pulling tvdb info either. Below is from tvdb, but that particular episode in my library is lacking the description. Is there something funny going on because tvdb is changing their back-end?

There are dozens of topics on virtual/real episode issue.  It is a issue of the virtual database item not realizing the real item has been added.  Normally a library scan resolve the issue.

There is a 24 delay for all information added to TVDB.  So the question is when was info added?

Just FYI copying the file and changing the extension isn't converting but if TS files are working then its not the issue.

Yes, I know. Figured I'd give it a whirl anyways. 😁

I'm not 100% certain, but I'm pretty sure the description was there yesterday afternoon when I first noticed the issue.

One other thing to check is if you enter the episode via Seasons View does it show multi-version or split version apart option near media info section?

If you select Edit metadata on Next up and Season View do they show the same info?

I just added the episode on test machine and got overview, so it is a cache issue if a Refresh does not provide a overview for you I am guessing.

Interesting, thanks for the info.

So, I "kind of" figured this out. I went into the info of the episode and just happened to notice a "split versions" button. I have no idea why that was there since I only had 1 episode 18, but I split, and now the episode 18 is showing up. BUT, I now have 2 episode 18's. 1 missing, 1 in my library. I've re-scanned, but the missing episode 18 won't go away.

Yep...split version. Where the heck did that come from!? 😅

A cache issue does seem like a likely culprit. How do I refresh the Emby cache?

Since you have a grouped virtual/real issue, the real question is why is Emby not cleaning this up with a Library Scan?

So in your case it is not a cache issue it is a database issue as one entry has info and the other does not.

You could try doing a Refresh on the Missing item and then doing a Library scan to see if it corrects the issue.

But you may have to remove the entire series, do a library scan to clean out the database, then re-add the series.
