wishmaster1965 4 Posted April 22, 2021 Posted April 22, 2021 (edited) logs.zipWhen I launch emby on my win10 machine, I just get the black screen with the emby logo in the centre. I renamed the Programdata and system forlder in appdata\Roaming\Emby-Server and installed again and this works but I need my users from the old install. How can this be done ? logs.zip Edited April 22, 2021 by wishmaster1965 Log attach

rbjtech 5284 Posted April 22, 2021 Posted April 22, 2021 First thing is to take a copy of the non-working ..\programdata\data directory - as this contains all the databases. Ideally take a backup of the entire emby non-working directory if you can. Shutdown the new version, as both cannot run on the same port. Is the non working and working version the same release version do you know ? If yes, then you should be able to reinstall 'over the top' of the non-working install using the RELEASE direct download below. Existing databases will not be overwritten. https://github.com/MediaBrowser/Emby.Releases/releases/tag/4.5.4.0 If on Beta - then again, same should apply, but use the Beta that matches your last install if you can. https://github.com/MediaBrowser/Emby.Releases/releases/tag/4.6.0.40 Once the zip has overwritten the files, restart the machine and see if emby then starts. It should pickup your existing databases. Remove the new version once you are satisfied the previous version is working ok. 1
wishmaster1965 4 Posted April 22, 2021 Author Posted April 22, 2021 (edited) Did as you suggested Both were on 4.5.4.0 Stopped emby and renamed all system dirs, I kept the programdata from the one I need the users from. Downloaded and unzipped to same location (system) rebooted When Emby starts I waited 10 mins and then opened http://localhost:8096 it redirects to http://localhost:8096/web/index.html#!/index.html Same black screen with emby logo and nothing further. embyserver.txt Edited April 22, 2021 by wishmaster1965 Spelling
Happy2Play 9780 Posted April 22, 2021 Posted April 22, 2021 To me it maybe a issue with DVBViewer plugin, as some of the errors mention it. But don't think I've seen this netmask issue either. 2021-04-22 14:40:48.873 Error Server: Error processing request *** Error Report *** Version: 4.5.4.0 Command line: C:\Users\billy\AppData\Roaming\Emby-Server\system\EmbyServer.dll Operating system: Microsoft Windows 10.0.19043 Framework: .NET Core 3.1.9 OS/Process: x64/x64 Runtime: C:/Users/billy/AppData/Roaming/Emby-Server/system/System.Private.CoreLib.dll Processor count: 4 Data path: C:\Users\billy\AppData\Roaming\Emby-Server\programdata Application path: C:\Users\billy\AppData\Roaming\Emby-Server\system System.ArgumentException: System.ArgumentException: netmask at System.Net.IPNetwork.InternalParse(Boolean tryParse, ReadOnlySpan`1 ipaddress, ReadOnlySpan`1 netmask, IPNetwork& ipnetwork) at System.Net.IPNetwork.InternalParse(Boolean tryParse, ReadOnlySpan`1 network, IPNetwork& ipnetwork) at Emby.Server.Implementations.Networking.NetworkManager.IsAddressInSubnets(IPAddress address, ReadOnlySpan`1 addressString, String[] subnets) at Emby.Server.Implementations.Networking.NetworkManager.IsInLocalNetworkInternal(IPAddress address, ReadOnlyMemory`1 endpoint, Boolean resolveHost, CancellationToken cancellationToken) at Emby.Server.Implementations.HttpServer.BaseRequest.IsInLocalNetwork(CancellationToken cancellationToken) at MediaBrowser.Api.UserService.Get(GetUsers request, Boolean filterByDevice, Boolean filterByNetwork, Boolean isAuthenticated, CancellationToken cancellationToken) at Emby.Server.Implementations.Services.ServiceController.GetTaskResult(Task task) at Emby.Server.Implementations.Services.ServiceHandler.ProcessRequestAsync(HttpListenerHost appHost, IRequest httpReq, IResponse httpRes, RestPath restPath, String responseContentType, CancellationToken cancellationToken) at Emby.Server.Implementations.HttpServer.HttpListenerHost.RequestHandler(IRequest httpReq, ReadOnlyMemory`1 urlString, ReadOnlyMemory`1 localPath, CancellationToken cancellationToken) Source: Emby.Server.Implementations TargetSite: Void InternalParse(Boolean, System.ReadOnlySpan`1[System.Char], System.ReadOnlySpan`1[System.Char], System.Net.IPNetwork ByRef) 2021-04-22 14:40:48.873 Info Server: http/1.1 Response 400 to 127.0.0.1. wishmaster1965 4 Posted April 22, 2021 Author Posted April 22, 2021 If this is the case how can I remove this if the emby client does not display on my screen , tried multiple browsers to the same problem
Happy2Play 9780 Posted April 22, 2021 Posted April 22, 2021 I would test removing the plugin, but dev may have to comment on the network issue.
rbjtech 5284 Posted April 22, 2021 Posted April 22, 2021 (edited) Compare the system.xml file from the working (starting) emby to the one that does not - this is in ..\programdata\config Look to see if the IP and ports match what you think they should - you can correct them by just resaving the XML file, kill the exe and restart it. The other way to possibly do this - is copy your existing database files (in ..\programdata\data) to the new install - but then you'll need to rebuild your library which I guess you want to avoid. If all you need is users on clean install you could move the users.db from old to new. Now if you need userdata also (ie watched, resume points) then you need the library.db as it contains the userdata table. There is a way to import the table from one db to another but is dependent on like db tables as the table has changed over time. But from what you are describing it sound like something is corrupt in initial install as new programdata folder work. The logs posted are only from the non functional Server, correct? If so can you post another log from functioning and non functioning servers ensuring to label them. Edited April 22, 2021 by Happy2Play

I have had plugins lock up my server this way before sound identical to the issue.
wishmaster1965 4 Posted April 22, 2021 Author Posted April 22, 2021 I just moved the users.db file and the user folder and now it works Thanks for the suggestions
Luke 42078 Posted April 23, 2021 Posted April 23, 2021 Ouch, that's a rather disruptive fix. How have you configured emby server network settings?
Luke 42078 Posted April 23, 2021 Posted April 23, 2021 I'm asking because the root problem looks like some kind of invalid network configuration, so you may actually run into this problem again if you don't fix that. I can have the server catch and log this error in the upcoming 4.6 release.
wishmaster1965 4 Posted April 23, 2021 Author Posted April 23, 2021 (edited) Under Networks I have LAN Networks set to 192.168.1.0./24 Nothing set for Local IP Address Edited April 23, 2021 by wishmaster1965 Edit
rbjtech 5284 Posted April 23, 2021 Posted April 23, 2021 192.168.1.0./24 It may be a typo - but remove that extra dot - the syntax above is not correct.
wishmaster1965 4 Posted April 23, 2021 Author Posted April 23, 2021 its 192.168.1.0/24 it was a typo 2

wishmaster1965 4 Posted April 26, 2021 Author Posted April 26, 2021 its 192.168.1.0/24 it was a typo, I have an openvpn server that hosts 10.0.0.0/8 addresses
Guest Posted April 26, 2021 Posted April 26, 2021 Might need to add those as well.. Mine will do this occasionally but I usually show an icon for the account/profile and I can get in that way.. use the Home Icon on the first page that shows up.. This may be different though.
wishmaster1965 4 Posted April 27, 2021 Author Posted April 27, 2021 (edited) Yes, thanks to everyone Edited April 27, 2021 by wishmaster1965 Typo 2
JonArbuckle 10 Posted June 27, 2021 Posted June 27, 2021 By the way: Adblock Plus updated today and Emby was stuck with same screen in browser. Disable it for Emby and all is back to normal. 2
Carlo 4561 Posted June 27, 2021 Posted June 27, 2021 Thanks for the update. Ad blockers serve a nice purpose but can be a pain in the @ss sometimes as well. LOL
