wodaaa 2 Posted April 20, 2021 Author Posted April 20, 2021 (edited) hey thank you for the answer, in the attached files at 22:06 I played the movie file and livetv in the LAN (emby app android), while at 22:09 I tried via the cellular network (WAN) - without success at 22:42 I played liveTV via WAN in mozilla browser on Android10 and everything worked ... Carlo 4560 Posted April 20, 2021 Posted April 20, 2021 (edited) You're getting an error trying to connect to https://xxxx.duckdns.org:8920/emby/system/info/public?format=json with an invalid cert message. Did they give you a cert to use to setup in Emby? Edited April 22, 2021 by Happy2Play Modified url
wodaaa 2 Posted April 20, 2021 Author Posted April 20, 2021 is there another possibility to connect safely via https without adding certificates?
Carlo 4560 Posted April 20, 2021 Posted April 20, 2021 No not really. In order to use "duck" you will need to remove the cert orset Secure connection mode to disabled so you're back to using the non SSL port of 8096. Make sure that port is forwarded in your router.
wodaaa 2 Posted April 20, 2021 Author Posted April 20, 2021 please answer why only livetv does not work, can I stream movies from internal memory?
Carlo 4560 Posted April 20, 2021 Posted April 20, 2021 Nothing should work remotely using that address if it's trying to use the SSL port as it fails the cert test. Many browsers will allow you to continue without the cert if you overide it. Now it may work for YOU testing internally since it's YOUR cert but it's not going to work outside of your LAN in normal circumstances. But since it doesn't work you're best not causing yourself grief and just use the non-SSL port until you can get a domain and a free cert.
Luke 42077 Posted April 22, 2021 Posted April 22, 2021 Hi, please try version 3.1.92 and see if that helps. Thanks.
wodaaa 2 Posted April 22, 2021 Author Posted April 22, 2021 Hi, thanks for your reactions. The new version of the application is available in beta?
wodaaa 2 Posted April 22, 2021 Author Posted April 22, 2021 (edited) I installed version 3.1.92, unfortunately I still can't play livetv from WAN, videos from internal memory play fine. re-add log? Edited April 22, 2021 by wodaaa

Carlo 4560 Posted April 22, 2021 Posted April 22, 2021 Your logs are still showing trying to use SSL which can't be verified. Are you still trying to use your self generated cert? It needs to go.
wodaaa 2 Posted April 22, 2021 Author Posted April 22, 2021 yes, I still use it because I feel safer explain why on the same certificate I can watch movies from the internal memory via WAN but I can't watch live TV anymore
Carlo 4560 Posted April 22, 2021 Posted April 22, 2021 You can't use an invalid cert as the client is rejecting it as it should. It MUST BE a certificate that is globally recognized and valid. If clients accept invalid certificates then what good would they be???

But I would assume there is different issues going on here if all other video playback works except LiveTV. Isolation to one content type would not be explained by a certificate in my opinion. Unless this a just a client defect? But if a cert issue why not affect all playback? Edited April 22, 2021 by Happy2Play
Carlo 4560 Posted April 22, 2021 Posted April 22, 2021 It's what the app log is showing as an error. It's the most basic thing to test by removing that on the server and using port 8096.
Happy2Play 9780 Posted April 22, 2021 Posted April 22, 2021 Just now, cayars said: It's what the app log is showing as an error. So why partial issue only affecting LiveTV and not ALL media playback on https?
Carlo 4560 Posted April 22, 2021 Posted April 22, 2021 Don't know, but I'd wonder if anything works if the app cache is wiped??? I don't know if possibly there is some type of caching going on or what. All I know is garbage in, garbage out, so if you put in a garbage/non valid cert then expect garbage out.
Happy2Play 9780 Posted April 22, 2021 Posted April 22, 2021 I would like to see the working transcode log for a movie and the failed transcode log for LiveTV. Seems odd on works and the other does not, but could be a defect in the device itself.
Carlo 4560 Posted April 22, 2021 Posted April 22, 2021 I totally agree Happy2Play, something is off or weird about this, but it's one of those things I likely wouldn't spend time testings since there's no point in using an invalid cert outside a dedicated network setup to use it.
wodaaa 2 Posted April 23, 2021 Author Posted April 23, 2021 Hi, I have a Lenovo P2 with android 10 (lineage os), I deleted the cache of the app and it didn't matter. also tried on another phone (samsung) with no success. in the afternoon of my local time I will try to include logs from the media play attempt. letsencrypt will be ok? I have to read about it, how to use it in emby ... in my opinion, the app should be able to accept such a certificate by the user
