spam_permi 1 Posted April 19, 2021 Posted April 19, 2021 (edited) Hi, I'm trying to install emby docker (in ubuntu OS) using remote libraries from a windows server. I run docker container with: sudo docker run -dit --name="emby" --volume /Emby:/config ...blablabla I have a local folder (/Emby/video) mounted with this command: sudo mount -o username=user1 //192.168.1.2/Video /Emby/video The user1 and root can see the remote video files in this folder. The Emby UI allows me to select this library folder, but, the emby server doesn't detects any movie. I don't know the reason. Could you help me please? Thanks Edited April 19, 2021 by spam_permi
mastrmind11 722 Posted April 19, 2021 Posted April 19, 2021 what are the permissions of the movies? the individual files need to be visible to the emby user.
spam_permi 1 Posted April 19, 2021 Author Posted April 19, 2021 Hi, root and user1 can read and modify the files. The question is, who is the emby user? Thanks

Thanks emby is the emby user. either change the user permission to emby or add emby to the group that has access to the files.
spam_permi 1 Posted April 20, 2021 Author Posted April 20, 2021 I don't understand you or you don't understand me. Emby is the internal user of docker emby, right? But, I have the movies outside the docker container, in the emby docker configuration folder. sudo docker run -dit --name = "emby" --volume /Emby:/config Movies in -> /Emby/Video In my ubuntu there is no user emby. With this new explanation, could you read the initial post again? Just to see if the scenario is understood. Thanks

Last question is what version of SMB are you using on Ubuntu and are the settings in either direction requesting or forcing encryption, minimum or maximum SMB version ( on either system in this case - done for one is done for both )?
spam_permi 1 Posted April 21, 2021 Author Posted April 21, 2021 Hi, the windows shared folder allows to read and write for 2 ubuntu samba users (user1 and root). These users can see and watch the movies. Nothing is hide. The samba version is the latest, downloaded 4 days ago. I think that all ubuntu and windows configuration is right. The Emby UI can select a library with the mounted folder in ubuntu (Video, source windows) but the scan doesn't detects any movie.
Guest Posted April 21, 2021 Posted April 21, 2021 What path configuration have you used in Emby on the Linux machine? If it is mounted in Linux, maybe you should try 'smb://servername/Share_name' I noticed that most of the commands you have posted are through SSH.. I have found several ways that connecting to a share is done in Ubuntu.. maybe this is the issue even though it would seem as much.. being able to access them.. but Emby may require something more to enable it to see files in that directory since it is deliver via SMB. I am assuming that the location of the shares are mounted with a location like 'smb://servername/Share_name' which would be the location within Ubuntu.. if not mistaken.
spam_permi 1 Posted April 22, 2021 Author Posted April 22, 2021 Hi, today I reconfigured all apps and now works fine. I can see the remote movies in emby UI. The only difference, I used cifs to mount the samba remote folder. Thanks for your time.
