I  recently set up Emby with cloudflare and Https and I have noticed that Emby with just pause randomly while watching a movie.

this happens on any device. Nvida shield or IPad. It also happens to to remote users it’s really random. One day yiu can play back movies no issues then the next day it will just pause random.

what do I need to send here when it happens which log file.

Server set up is Qnap with 32 GB of memory also have gigabit internet

its unlikely to have anything to do with cloudflare if its affecting local users as well as remote users. i use cloudflare and have no issues when accessing my server remotely

Same

However I don't use my domain (cloudflare) when on LAN as I don't see the point of pulling info from the Internet which is fetched from my local LAN when I'm already on the same LAN as the server. :)

Hi.  Can you define "pause"?  Does the player go into a paused state or are you just saying that it has to pause to buffer in?

It will just pause I don’t see any buffering. If I don’t touch anything it will start playing on its own after awhile It’s random.

I have my Clients configured for local ip.

I also have a Apple TV with infuse pointed to the emby server and I have no issues with random pauses.

it’s only happening with the emby apps on nvida shield and iPad.

let know what you need on my end and I can send log file

Okay, that is waiting for more data to come in and is an indication that the bitrate of the content is just too high for something in the I/O chain.

Let's look at specifics from an example.  Thanks.

Based on what ebr just said can you tell us the physical setup of everything between the Emby Server and the Shield TV on your LAN?

I have been seeing this with one of my Shields as well, it only happens on the one using WiFi. It will be playing fine and then just freeze, looking at the dashboard Emby shows it as still playing even though its not. It can take anything from a few seconds to a few minutes to resume, if i unplug the shield and do a full reboot it seems to sort itself out.

I should add that once it starts it's constantly freezing/unfreezing only the reboot seems to help.

Hi, if you have two shields I'd try to switch them to see if the problem follows the one device or if it's only happens when using WIFI.

That will be a good diagnostic to help narrow your problem down.

Hi there @Kyrunner, has this helped you narrow down the issue?

I just started experiencing this yesterday. We were watching a show and it just paused. I hit play again and hit play about 3 times and then it continued playing. Then, it happened 3-4 times towards the end of the episode. It'd just pause the playback randomly. Idk if it was the Fire Cube acting up, or the episode we were watching or the Orbi 10 ft away having signal issues because of the over head fan running... Js

Hi.  One thing you can try which I've found helps on my Shield Tube, is restarting the device.

Along these same lines, I have found that restarting the wifi can also help.  Not sure if the FireCube has that capability or not, but the shield does,
