Hi Luke, thanks for replying. I install Emby on my TV which is LG 65CX and play videos on QNAP NAS with Emby server. The problem is that if the videos such as .mkv are 1080P or 4k, only .srt subtitles can make the videos play well. If I switch to .ass or .pgssub, it will not play or it will be stuck. Base on my experience, only .srt or .ssa are working well so far. Both playing and fonts rendering.

And I tried beta 4.6.0.37. There were no contents on my TV. The library was empty except for the catalog list. PC webpage or mobile webpage were normal. Thank you.

My understanding is the TV does not support pgs subs and they have to be burned in (transcode).  Now .ass would appear to be a different issue.

Help library: No subtitle when watching video through USB

But we need specific examples with server and ffmpeg logs.

I also tried to play the video through Emby Web 4.5.4.0 by Chrome on PC. When I chose pgs, the 4k video was stuck, too. And HDR was unavailable not only on TV but also on PC. Besides, I did not watch video through USB. I use NAS and all connections are through LAN.

Very few clients support PGS subs (graphical), most require burn-in/transcoding.  As for USB, if you can't play the subtitles via USB then you can't stream them either ie requiring Transcoding. (Just mentioned as it showed supported client subtitles, but see mixed results on .ass being supported also)

HDR will be unavailable unless the media is Direct Playable.

The next version (4.6+) will have Tone-mapping for transcoding, but if you are having issues now with transcoding, I would guess you will have issue in next release also as your system would appear to be struggling with transcoding but need logs to verify.

Here are some logs. Can you do customized fonts support in the future? Now all .ass fonts are as the same as .srt. Thank you.
