EmeyWhatson 1 Posted April 7, 2021 Posted April 7, 2021 (edited) Hello! I'm looking at the feasibility of setting up a media server for a very specific application, and am curious if Emby is the right option for the server software... Some basic background - This media server (which contains purchased, stored multimedia content) needs to interface with a wired network and stream content to around 100 users simultaneously, sometimes more. First, the nature of the facility. The media content would be streamed to the sleeping quarters and common areas at a facility in a remote location where people typically work 2 weeks on / 2 weeks off. This is not a hotel, as the people are being paid to work on site and stay overnight at this facility. Thi vshare s is where I had a lot of trouble finding information anywhere online - I really don't know the licensing implications to this setup, so any input on that piece is greatly appreciated! As for the network and hardware, the distribution is 100% wired, and the end https://omegle.onl/ user device is a basic set top box running Android TV. The server will be fit for purpose, and will most likely be a windows build. My questions are: Can an Emby server stream to 100+ users simultaneously? This is basically where I ruled out using Plex If the answer to (1) is yes, and assuming 1080p content, will this server need to have super beefy hardware? Any insight on licensing the media content for a server of this nature? Edited April 8, 2021 by EmeyWhatson

Gilgamesh_48 1240 Posted April 7, 2021 Posted April 7, 2021 (edited) I very much doubt that Emby will serve your needs.. There are multiple reasons for this: 1: 100 streams will tax most any reasonable network. 2: Few computers are strong enough to even simply direct play 100 streams at the same time. 3: Disk i/o will be maxed out. 4: If many of the streams are to remote computers even high upload speeds will probably be more than maxed out. 5: The Emby TOS does not allow commercial use and this "sounds" very "profession. There are professional streaming systems that will do the job BUT even those will hit some limits and you may need multiple upload slots to even make professional systems workable at this level.
