Movie duration is not refreshed while selecting different movie versions

Hi.

I am currently using Emby 4.6.0.30, but this is also happening in stable 4.5.4.0 version.

I have several movies with different versions (Theatrical cut, Extended cut, Director's cut, UNRATED, 4K, 1080p, etc).

The issue is that the movie duration information does not change accordingly to the actual movie version duration which is currently selected. The displayed time is always the one of the default (first) movie version.

Could this issue be fixed?

Thanks!!

Multiple versions is designed for different encodings/qualities/etc, rather than for different versions like DCs.  The devs are aware that the facility is used for real different versions, and the limitations it has in this case, but I don't know their plans for improving the handling of them.

Thanks!

I wouldn't think this as a new feature to be requested, but a way to complete the multi-version functionality, so everything makes sense when a given version is selected: duration, audio, subtitles...

I hope developers agree with this.

Thanks!

Yes it's something we can look at improving. Thanks for the feedback.

But as mentioned above it was never built around cuts, it was built around resolution/quality of same version.  Users have just adapted it to cuts.  All information to encode/quality would be identical so the UI is currently static to one it in multi-version.

But yes the devs would like to improve on this.

I've mentioned this before, but the knowledge base specifically describes using the multi version feature for different cuts.

At this point, it's not fair to suggest users are going rogue or improvising a feature.

We're following directions.

Sure but in the end it was designed for static information.  So a feature enhancement or ever a total rewrite is needed to have information change for the version you are displaying.

Right now the server chooses the best version to play and you have to manually change that if you want something different.

Yes, you are correct.  This is our own fault for telling users the system can be used this way.  There should at least be some caveats specified in those instructions. @cayars
