Carlo 4561 Posted March 31, 2021 Posted March 31, 2021 Hi, transcode file shows an ass sub as the default. Do you have the sub selected for playback in the client?

"Do you have the sub selected for playback in the client?" I didn't understand that part, I'm a layman I downloaded this full anime, all subtitles work if I open the file directly on the computer, episodes 1,2 and 3 load normal on the emby, but from episode 4 onwards it doesn't work, but on the pc it loads normal ALL work normally.
Carlo 4561 Posted March 31, 2021 Posted March 31, 2021 OK for episode 4 can you play it back, then upload the server log and any ffmpeg file generated? You can find these log files on the Logs menu in web admin.

Carlo 4561 Posted March 31, 2021 Posted March 31, 2021 Does this file play with subtitles correctly in VLC?

Carlo 4561 Posted March 31, 2021 Posted March 31, 2021 If you don't play with the subtitles do they then play ok or do you still have issues? Just want to narrow down the specific problem or circumstances.

mchammer 3 Posted April 4, 2021 Posted April 4, 2021 With ASS subtitle using the webui the subtitle isn't extracted until approximately 15-30 seconds in the playback or I have to pause the video for the specified time and then it appears on the display.
Guest Posted April 4, 2021 Posted April 4, 2021 That is normal for playback with some files... I go for having external subtitles or subtitles with an SRT or ASS ( there are couple of more filetypes SMI, I think ) in the folder with the movie with the proper naming convention. It will use those first and if you select it, they will stay as a selection choice. I would suggest using the Subscene plugin and allow its scheduled task to run or downloading them yourself for those files. It skips the process. and just plays.

Hi, yes on some environments the extraction process can be slow. That's why we have an option to disable on the fly subtitle extraction under server Transcoding settings. Please make sure to read the help text underneath the option before changing it. And as the other user mentioned, external subtitles will always be the most efficient. Please let us know if this helps. Thanks.

Disabling on the fly makes the load time longer. 15-30 seconds wait time isn't bad comparing to waiting a minute for the video to load
HeroLeam 11 Posted April 6, 2021 Author Posted April 6, 2021 I'm sorry, but I didn't understand anything I should do to solve the caption problem

At this point, I would suggest a couple things: Use external subtitles Play using an Emby app that supports for formats than the browser, such as Emby Theater for windows/linux, Emby for android, ios, macos, etc. Please let us know if this helps. Thanks.
