Home assistant & Emby integration

Hi !, I am using this integration for emby in homeassistant atm. https://www.home-assistant.io/integrations/emby/

The bad thing is that it adds every media player / web browser / chromecast, that has been used to play media from emby as a new media player entity. So now I have 60 media players in home assistant. although I only have 5 users on my server.
Can I somehow add a media player myself or disable auto add of new players?

Or remove the integration completely and use the API instead of just getting the media player I want? Then I just need to watch my shield tv, if yes, HOW?

Must be alot of Home Assistant users here

Hi, I don't think you can as it's pulling devices from the server. You could remove dead devices from there.

But plex has so much options in home assistant. Why is that? Do you have to make more options or is it HA team that has to do it?. Noob question

The developer of that home assistant add-on would need to add more options.

I have searched from HACS，it shows the add on is ：Emby Latest Media.  I think they are not the same one.

So I think showing latest media is probably part of what it does?

I was confused before and I thought Emby（ https://www.home-assistant.io/integrations/emby/） needed to be installed manually.

Now I know that as long as the ‘configuration.yaml’ is configured, the emby entity can be found in the Developer Tools.

Are there any plans for the emby team to maintain a home assistant integration? The current integration is very lacking compared to the plex and jellyfin integrations and the custom HACS addon https://github.com/rumbu13/ha-mediabrowser which is no longer developed has stopped working as of the 07.2025 home assistant update.

Seriously considering moving to plex or jellyfin due to this

If you remove the integration and change it over to use this fork of it (https://github.com/revin34/ha-emby) and readd the integration, it works again. From the issues on github there is a python script error that stopped it working. The fork'd version has got it working again on the latest version of HA.

the HACS implementation not maintained and difficult to find the forked solution. The "official" home assistant integration has limited feature set and requires knowledge of YAML to integrate.

I mean there is activity on the github repo. Not necessarily that they published a new version, but there is recent development.
