Rolanddy 4 Posted March 24, 2021 Posted March 24, 2021 Hi, My name is Rolando, I have the server on my Laptop, I've been using Emby Premiere for more than a year now without any problem, I've been having issues with my server today, I have Emby apps on Nvidia Shield, Galaxy phones, Mi Box, etc, I changed my router today and after that I cannot connect any of the device to the servers, it's really impossible, the error: We're unable to connect to the selected server right now, any help please??
Guest Posted March 24, 2021 Posted March 24, 2021 Try walking through all of the router settings.. If you are able to connect with your laptop set to being the DMZ.. then it needs port forwarding..
Rolanddy 4 Posted March 24, 2021 Author Posted March 24, 2021 Thank you, but sorry, I think you need to be more specific, I am not really understanding, what are those steps again?
Guest Posted March 24, 2021 Posted March 24, 2021 (edited) In your router settings ( and this is a test - you will set it back the way it was when you were done ) you have a DMZ setting which allows you to set the ip address of the default DMZ system.. you will set that to the ip address of your computer ( with the server ) After this is set.. IF you can connect with one of the other devices then you simply need port forwarding done on the router to enable it ( possibly a few other settings ) IF you are not able to connect still then it may be the security software which is set up for the connection that used to be made to your old router, on the system running the server. Many forms of security software, like ESET Smart Security has specific settings per connection.. ( behaviors, allowed protocols, rules for firewall )..Some more restrictive than others.. with a router change the connection and device is new and needs new rules and configuration possibly. That is what I am trying to troubleshoot.. You can skip all of this and just do the things I mention but if you don't need to mess with it why do so.. if you get my drift.. SO this way I am trying to target the exact cause.. You might assume it is the router but it may not be and it may have adequate security settings as a default.. Edited March 24, 2021 by Guest
Rolanddy 4 Posted March 24, 2021 Author Posted March 24, 2021 Ok, thank you so much, I will try that later, thanks
Neminem 1519 Posted March 24, 2021 Posted March 24, 2021 Quote I changed my router today and after that I cannot connect any of the device to the servers I would see if router change, changed you emby server ip address.
rbjtech 5284 Posted March 24, 2021 Posted March 24, 2021 If your devices are local - port forwarding is not necessary. The router usually also provide local DHCP addressing. So you will likely have to reboot everything attached to the new router - and make a note of all the new Ip addresses it allocated. Emby should pickup the new IP after a restart - and then use this new emby address to reconnect the previous local devices. 1
Rolanddy 4 Posted March 24, 2021 Author Posted March 24, 2021 Yes my devices are local, I change WIFi company, so my router is different, but only Emby is the one with these issues @cayars
Carlo 4561 Posted March 24, 2021 Posted March 24, 2021 Hello @Rolanddy It would seem like a network issue. Likely some IPs have changed. This might work itself out without you doing anything in a couple of days but if you like I could do a remote session with you and take a look at things and help you get things working now. If you would like another set of eyes to look at your setup and maybe help you change a couple of things as well as verify your current setup send me a PM and we can set up an Emby Remote Support session. Carlo

Does the IP address on the emby dashboard match the actual IP address of the machine ?
Rolanddy 4 Posted March 25, 2021 Author Posted March 25, 2021 Yes I already rebooted all the devices, the Emby Ip address is supposed to be the same as the laptop?
rbjtech 5284 Posted March 25, 2021 Posted March 25, 2021 As emby runs from your laptop (first post?) then yes, it should be the same. On the laptop itself, can you open a browser and load emby - ie http:\\ipaddress:8096 ?
Rolanddy 4 Posted March 26, 2021 Author Posted March 26, 2021 Yes it's the same IP address. I uninstalled Emby server I re-installed it, but It's stock in the same issue
Luke 42080 Posted March 26, 2021 Posted March 26, 2021 Hi, I would suggest checking out our Connection Troubleshooter: https://support.emby.media/support/solutions/articles/44001849007-connectivity Please try the steps listed there and let us know which ones succeed and which ones do not. Thanks !

McAfee KB - How to stop McAfee on Windows from blocking apps and devices (TS100813) But I would not have thought this would have been a issue if only a router was changed as the existing firewall rules should have been fine.
Rolanddy 4 Posted March 26, 2021 Author Posted March 26, 2021 Emby last version 4540 and McAfee last version too
Rolanddy 4 Posted March 26, 2021 Author Posted March 26, 2021 (edited) Thank you so much guys, I already fixed this, thanks to Happy2Play for the help with McAfee... I appreciate that Edited March 26, 2021 by Rolanddy 1
