Emby stops playing after a few seconds

Hello!

I've been enjoying Emby for quite a while now - maybe a few years. I switched from Plex due to it's lowsy transcoding, and I've never experienced any major issues with Emby so far.

But today, after a break from Emby and home streaming, I fired up Emby Server yet again, updated to the latest version (portable, I should mention), and I encountered a very weired problem. After starting a movie, it pauses after a few seconds. This seems to be happening only in the browser, not in Emby Theater. The console log says the following when the problem occurs:

Can anyone help me figuring out a solution?

Hi there, can you please attach the ffmpeg log from this example as well? Thanks.

Could you try something for me to see if it makes a difference?

Turn off (disable) "Allow subtitle extraction on the fly" from the Transcoding menu.

Try that same file again after making this change.

Didn't seem to have any influence, but here's the logs.

Hmm, the subs are still being written just like in the first file.  Can you restart Emby Server and try this again?

Are you playing back with subtitles turned on?

Can you take a screen shot of the bottom of the movie detail screen showing the file specs?

Do you get an error with only this movie or does it happen with multiple movies?
I ask because it could be a corrupted file.

Here you go. The file has played properly before.

Subs are now off, and it's still the same.

Thanks, now the other question.

Do you get an error with only this movie or does it happen with multiple movies?

It happens to other movies and series as well. But not every media, it seems.

See if you notice a pattern between the files.  Are they all remuxing for example?  Any particular codec the same, etc...

Are these files you have converted or did someone else do the conversions?

If you want to upload one of these files somewhere that I can pull down I can take a look at it and also use it to test with on my system to see if I can reproduce your problem.

Wouldn't it be easier if I gave you access to my Emby, so you could take a direct look?

I'm going to DM you some credentials in advance.

If you like to do that I can try and test that way.

Just give me few titles to playback.
PS give me download access and I can pull down any media to test with locally as well.

Did you find anything? Are you still having an issue with this?

Haven't yet heard back from cayars. Issue remains.

I need to know some specific media to test.  Can you give me a title or two?

Yes, but I think cayars is about to check out my Emby Server soon.

So first test was a direct play that played back perfectly for 25 minutes.
Now starting a test with a DTS only movie that will force transcoding to Chrome.

Just a quick public note: It seems that it it not the media, that is causing the problem, since both me and cayars can watch movies now when logged in to the server via my public IP. The issue only occurs when logging in to Emby via localhost, or the local IP, from the browser. Which is odd, because I've never had that problem before. Whenever I'm logging in via localhost og local IP, some medias won't start.
