Luke 42078 Posted March 19, 2021 Posted March 19, 2021 Hi there, what Emby app are you using on the TV?
GaryG464 2 Posted March 20, 2021 Author Posted March 20, 2021 (edited) Do you mean the version? Version 7 dated Feb 2021. I looked at your version notes here, I dont see it listed. This issue seems to be happening regularly, last night did a restart of server, and a scan of directores this time it didnt help. As I scroll through movies, it goes as far a "D" then stops there, If I search, sort, it just spins. Its an Insigina Smart TV...ROKU, never had this issue before. It has to be a version problem I think. Thanks in advance. Edited March 20, 2021 by GaryG464

What app version number as version 7 doesn't mean anything that I know of?
GaryG464 2 Posted March 20, 2021 Author Posted March 20, 2021 (edited) I have Emby Installed on the TV, I checked the version it says 7? I also have Roku Installed. No I wouldn't do a reset, just trying to figure out what client is being used. @ebr Edited March 20, 2021 by Happy2Play
GaryG464 2 Posted March 20, 2021 Author Posted March 20, 2021 Hi I just did the factory reset anyway no big deal...but no change. Very strange. Stops in the same spot "D" This is an Insignia ROKU TV, actually pretty decent TV never had problems with it...this is a mystery indeed
Happy2Play 9780 Posted March 20, 2021 Posted March 20, 2021 Just not sure as you mentioned version 7 but the Roku client should be v4.0.18 or beta v4.0.19. Can you post a server log.

speechles 2055 Posted March 20, 2021 Posted March 20, 2021 (edited) How powerful is your Emby server? How large is your Emby database? How long do replies take to arrive from Emby server to your Roku? When you choose a letter you aren't actually "JUMP" to that letter. You are in effect scrolling up to that letter. We simulate that scrolling in the Roku but certain mechanics fail under certain conditions for many different reasons. When you use the alpha picker it (the app logic) looks at the last object fetched. Gets the first letter of the sort title and if no sort title uses first letter of name. Compares that with what it wants to find. It knows when it has gone past the item and will stop. It then goes through the last items fetched once it has gone past to find the exact starting point for that letter and lands you there. The Roku uses very precise timing to coordinate these fetches and if anything falls out of sync it might get stuck doing these "JUMPS". We are investigate new methods to keep this moving and possibly to allow you to escape out of a "JUMP" in progress using the back key on your Roku remote. We are very aware this is an issue and are working to make this a non-issue ever again. There will be a cure and it will solve this problem once and for all. Stay tuned. GaryG464 2 Posted March 21, 2021 Author Posted March 21, 2021 I dont know how to grab the screenshot from the TV, I could take a photo with my phone, but simply, reponsivness "remote commands" is very slow and under the "Movies" menu (TOP LEFT) it stops at letter D. If I go to the "Folders" menu top right, I can maneuver beyond D, but res[posiveness is still very slow. Other APPs on the TV appear to be fine. Ive been looking at this actively, with this TV there is no way to turn off updates. If I do a factory reset, there is no way I can avoid all the ROKU updates, which is ridiculous. I suspect this problem is somehow rooted in the last TV (ROKU) update done. Im attaching the latest logs just did a restart a short while ago, problem still exists. It looks like now that Emby restart isnt correcting the problem... :( Thanks again for your time regarding this. GG embyserver.txt hardware_detection-63751921107.txt
GaryG464 2 Posted March 21, 2021 Author Posted March 21, 2021 (edited) "If you use the web app, can you get beyond where you can in the Roku app?" On the ROKU TV, Im selecting the web if that is what you mean. Im going to Emby "Pin" and entering it. I have my server and a friends server as well, both of which stop at a certain point of the movie list, it wont scroll anymore, and remote reposnse very slow on both as well. Roku SG 4.0.18 Also: I uninstalled all plugins on server...no change Edited March 21, 2021 by GaryG464
Carlo 4561 Posted March 21, 2021 Posted March 21, 2021 On a web browser on your computer or cell phone, tablet can you get past the D? Do you have any other Emby clients besides the Roku/LG TV? We just want to see if this is server or client related.

What if on your Roku you just press the fast-forward and hold it down. Then once you get to the bottom this press the down key once and it should start to load more. If you do it this way over and over manually is it still sluggish? That is all the automatic way is doing is simulate a user scrolling to the bottom until it gets to the letter you are looking for. Once it finds that letter it looks for the items with the exact start of that letter and sets you there. It is only when after using the alpha picker/jump on Roku that there is an issue with sluggishness? This isn't a feeling all the time? It is fast other than the grid? Very curious... ebr 16184 Posted March 21, 2021 Posted March 21, 2021 Hi. Can you try installing the beta of the app and see if it performs better?
