scan library files very slow

Library scanning is very slow at present. It can take up to 15min before new media appears.  Anyway, way I can fix this?  Is there a setting I'm not seeing?

Have my library become too big?

Attach a log of the time of the scan and I think you should be good.. NOT a screenshot though.. attach and actual copy of the log in txt format.
