chefboyrdave 2 Posted March 16, 2021 Posted March 16, 2021 I have a large music library. A title or alphabetical search in carplay would be very helpful. Thanks 2
Luke 42077 Posted March 16, 2021 Posted March 16, 2021 Hi there, yes we are continuing to work on improving CarPlay features with each new iOS release. Thanks for the feedback.

sjkiss 28 Posted December 4, 2024 Posted December 4, 2024 @LukeWhen will Emby be functional in CarPlay? It is currently not functional at all.
Luke 42077 Posted December 19, 2024 Posted December 19, 2024 Hi, have you tried voice search with Siri?
Luke 42077 Posted December 19, 2024 Posted December 19, 2024 25 minutes ago, sjkiss said: Yes and it never works. Let's look at a specific example: How to Report a Problem Thanks.
sjkiss 28 Posted December 21, 2024 Posted December 21, 2024 RunningiOs 18.1.1 on an iPhone 11 and Emby for ios 2.2.31, and no other music player (e.g. plexamp) installed on the phone. Siri (Emby) does respond to commands like "Hey Siri, open Emby" and "Play Bruce Springsteen". So that works reasonably well. And when connected to my Kenwood DMX4710 car stereo via Carplay it also responds well. Server logs are attached. However, Emby is *not* functional in Carplay with manual selections (i.e. with the fingers, not via Siri) and this is a problem for a few reasons. 1) My particular stereo overall does not work well with voice activated commands. Activating Siri often basically just crashes CarPlay and the car has to be restarted for it to start up again. Not ideal. This is not your problem but it does mean that having the manual backup would be nice. I can only imagine there are others out there who love Emby, and would like to use it via Carplay but the voice activated commands don't work that well. 2) Even if Carplay / voice activated commands are functional having manual functionality would be extremely valuable. It's awkward to interrupt conversations with passengers or having kids in the car to "Hey Siri" to get music to play. 3) Everyone knows voice activated commands can be fuzzy occasionally. I have an album titled "Badlands: A tribute to Bruce Springsteen". "Hey Siri, play Badlands by Bruce Springsteen" returns that album, and not the song. "Hey Siri, play the song Badlands by Bruce Springsteen" does return the correct song, but, many you really have to know how to direct Siri to get it to work properly. 4) Plexamp has manual functionality for precisely the same setup (NAS, iOs) that works perfectly. I prefer it greatly. But Emby has other functionality that I love. But Emby's community forum is so much more responsive. For example, in the home Emby's web app or iOs app can be cast to any DLNA speaker, which works very well. Plex is restricted in this regard. It's sorting and use of tags is so much more simple Server logs are attached. Please see Thursday December 19th around 10 pm, Friday December 20th around 6:00 - 6:30 pm and Saturday December 21st around 10:00 a.m. Is this helpful? Could you please confirm you acknowledge having better manual functionality via Carplay without having to rely on Siri would be desirable? embyserver-63870249595.txt embyserver-63870335995.txt embyserver.txt
sjkiss 28 Posted December 24, 2024 Posted December 24, 2024 Just an update: I tried Siri again plugged into CarPlay and Siri simply does not respond or access Emby. You get an error answer like: "Hmm, something went wrong" Plex is *not* installed on the phone so Emby is the only music player. See the server logs around 10:00 a.m.: @LukeCould you confirm you have this? Thank you! embyserver-63870595191.txt

sjkiss 28 Posted January 1, 2025 Posted January 1, 2025 Hi there, thanks for responding. I tried again today around 14:00. Again, i was able to access Emby (Emby for ios 2.2.31) remotely from my phone *without Siri* (ios 18.1.1) with no problems at all. I'm even using it now, at work, remotely, with port forwarding and a dynamic DDS enabled. However, using Siri to do the same, even without Carplay, *simply does not work*. See attached error message at the bottom of the screenshot. See also logs attached. @LukeCan you please confirm you have gotten this and this is helpful? Remote access to my home Emby server is working *fine*. Siri access to Emby is *not functional*. Emby via carplay (manual access) is *not functional* because of slow loading times. sjkiss 28 Posted March 28, 2025 Posted March 28, 2025 Hi there, any update on this? The specific feature request is a sound one: an Artist search by letter index function. Thank you @Luke
