Not Working DolbyVision on Android TV & Apple TV & LG & Android Mobile & Iphone

Hi everyone i have using the android TV, Apple TV and LG C9 to play mp4 dual layer DolbyVision but lately I can't see the DolbyVision banner in my LG but in plex (On my LG) it works well but then on Android TV the MKV/MP4/TS doesn't play as Dolby Vision, my servers is running K8S and rancher with the image linuxservers/emby:beta not sure but all I'm sure is than is a beta, and in Android is the stable version. I tested with VLC and Kodi and MX player as third party player no one play Dolby Vison only plex,

Materials :

 

LG C9 

Android TV : Shield TV Pro 

My transcoding video if required options is disabled for that users but videos still HDR instead of Dolby Vision 

 

The Android Version is the latest and the Emby is also the latest one installed yesterday 

 

 

LG c9 updated and, but I never seen an update of from more than a year. 

 

Android Logs send as you can see my pictures all those movies are mkv/MP4 but I have also a TS movie than doesn't works and all this doesn't work from some weeks maybe month but I just noticed it today. 

As you also can see everything is playing fine and Mission Impossible Fallout is a dual layer DolbyVision MP4 if you can check my logs it will be nice.

 

What about updating ExoPlayer on apps and in Apple TV the native player? 

On plex android tv every files works unless MP4 and ts like the movie Mission Impossible. 

 

Plex on LG C9 movie mission impossible fallout dual layer MP4 DolbyVision works well don't know why in android TV no. 

 

Emby captures for debug

 

Movies colors are very purple and green. Same thing on Kodi VLC and MX Player but fine on plex 

 

No DolbyVision appears only HDR as you can see

Don't worry about that cable management is fully temporary because I gona move to other apartments where the cabling management is in walls directly . 

 

 

BTW and what about Apple TV, IPhone and all other devices, on my mobile it shows colors like purple and green on face and clouth. 

 

By the way I will go to turn my server back in beta since is a issue with the media play I thought it was a issue with server side do I reversed back to latest so now I put it back to beta. 

I'm very excited about support for Dolby Vision in mobile and etc... IOS and most 99% recent devices support it (Avoid Samsung OK their have done a very dumb choice I'm not aware about what they do) 

This is my movies encoding détails but looks like also a IMAX with DolbyVision such as maybe not supported. 

There is two layers but the movies original name is:

Mission.Impossible.Fallout.2018.MULTI.IMAX.2160p.DOLBY.VISION.UHD.BluRay.REMUX.DD5.1.HEVC-ABF

 

IMAX and DolbyVision it's a MP4 it have a sample which unfortunately the link is no more available. But it works on LG C9 Plex only on with emby doesn't works and on ATV not works by PLEX or EMBY

I also sent a logs from bones which is a AVI format than don't works I already open a ticket about it somewhere, but just say than I send a other logs about Bones (CyberPoison) avi container which don't load at all at 18h17 gmt+1

And what about LG C9 native app the movie above works as Dolby Vision but not on emby this is weird

If the container has a separate 1080p 2nd video track, then you need to remux it into a 'single layer' Dolby Vision file using the latest version of MakeMkv.  

Literally just load the MKV - it will recognise the DV and then click on the output Icon and it will remux it (to include DV) and subsequently remove the 2nd Video file.

OK nice, but do you have an idea why plex on LG load it as DolbyVision? Without remuxing it?

I've read that Plex are perhaps remuxing it on the fly or maybe using a custom player to play it.

Remuxing with makeMKV definitely works though - as I have remux'd a few of my DV track'd MKV's and they now play in DV just fine on my C8/Shield Pro 2019 combo.

can you explain how people can remux dual layer in mkv and mp4 ? 

sorry never done this before, and now i have a couple of movies wich is on dual layer so it will be nice to tell me how can i remux it to mkv and mp4 ?

Does it need Next Gen GPU that support dolby vision or not ? 

Wich tools i need ?

I did 3 post above this.. 

d/l MakeMKV, open the mkv file (not sure on .mp4, it may work), let it analyse, pick a new file name, click on start to create the new single layer DV file.  It's that easy.

does it require some hardware compatible or any computer can do that and also linux ?

It's just a cpu/disk activity, it is not re-encoding - it is just remuxing the data.  It will take 5-10 minutes depending how fast your disks are.  I'm not sure if makemkv is available on linux ?
