scb99 246 Posted March 14, 2021 Posted March 14, 2021 Hi, I don't want to make a big deal of this because I know my directory structure is non-standard. But this is quite curious and happens consistently so I wanted to mention it. I have a Mixed Library In this library is a directory called "The Avengers". This directory contains a bunch of files "SnnEnn Name" of the old TV Series The Avengers This directory also has two subdirectories: - Extras, containing a bunch of Extras - Audios (Season 1), containing Audio recreations of missing episodes in the first season When I browse "The Avengers" from the Client, I get in the "Seasons" strip Audios (Season 1) ... Specials ... Season1 ... Season2 ... and so on If I click on Specials, I see the contents of the Extras subdirectory (as expected) If I click on "Audios (Season 1)", instead of seeing the contents of this subdirectory, I see every single episode from the program directory, PLUS every single extra from the Extras subdirectory, but none of the contents of the "Audios (Season 1)" subdirectory This behaviour is absolutely consistent every time I have an additional subdirectory as well as the Extras subdirectory. This is on 4.6.0.31 by the way but I dont think it's a beta issue
Luke 42089 Posted March 14, 2021 Posted March 14, 2021 HI, due to the free for all nature that mixed content libraries can often be, it's even more important that you following TV naming guidelines than it would be for a TV-only library. I have no doubt there is opportunity for the server to improve in this area, but even once that happens, there is still the general rule of thumb, that the more difficult you make it, the more likely it is you're going to see these kinds of quirks.
scb99 246 Posted March 14, 2021 Author Posted March 14, 2021 Hi Luke, I think the only way in which I didn't follow the guidelines is that there's this extra subdirectory. That's why I thought it was worth a brief mention. But anyway, not to worry. Thanks, Steve
Luke 42089 Posted March 14, 2021 Posted March 14, 2021 At some point video scanning will get the same improvements that music has just received and then I think this may improve. There will still be no way to guarantee perfection though because depending on naming, a movie file name can sometimes look like an episode and vice versa.
