Hi i was thinking about to change from plex to emby. Emby interface is so much better and plex is giving me the worst lately with playback errors. I was so happy with emby's interface until I notice the unsafe icon. I tried enverything searching how to create ssl encryptation without a domain name but with no luck. I don't mind paying one time 120$ but I don't want to pay for a domain every year since I have no interest in it. I asked my cibersecurity teacher and he said to me it is possible and a lot of things I dind't understand. The question is how do I use encryptation so I can login safely outside of my network and why is not this a default? With plex that was never an issue but I would really prefer to give the money to emby because I like it much more.

Sorry for my english. Its not my native language.

Hi, as the previous poster said, you need a domain name and ssl certificate. The other software you mentioned uses their own domains to resolve your ip address, whereas for us, Emby Server is fully privatized in your home network.

I'm having trouble following that tutorial. It's a shame but I think it's probably too soon for me to use emby. Maybe one day after some more time of knoledge I'll give it another try. Thanks for the help anyway!
