Monkrocker 2 Posted March 12, 2021 Posted March 12, 2021 So I just signed up for Emby Premiere just a few minutes ago. My key doesn't work. I checked the Emby Premiere Purchase/Subscription Support link and tried the steps therein. First - the "Post on the forums" link is broken. Second - my specific issue is that the call to validateDevice on mb3admin.com is returning a 404. Screenshot from Chrome's network tab provided. When I try to save the key is returns immediately, so it's definitely a 404. I don't have a firewall blocking it or anything like that.
ebr 16185 Posted March 12, 2021 Posted March 12, 2021 Hi. Please post your server log from when you went through the steps in that article. That end point is returning a 404 because the validation hasn't completed (is probably being blocked by something).
ebr 16185 Posted March 12, 2021 Posted March 12, 2021 Yep. Something is blocking the validation call. Please check all security software. 2021-03-12 10:56:18.963 Error HttpClient: Connection to https://mb3admin.com/admin/service/registration/validate timed out 2021-03-12 10:56:18.967 Error SecurityManager: Error checking registration status of MBSupporter
Monkrocker 2 Posted March 12, 2021 Author Posted March 12, 2021 (edited) Easy. I don't have any. Can you provide a url I can test in a browser or with curl? Just tried going directly to mb3admin.com and it redirects to emby.media Edited March 12, 2021 by Monkrocker
Monkrocker 2 Posted March 12, 2021 Author Posted March 12, 2021 Just tried the 404 url with curl and I get this result. See attachment.
ebr 16185 Posted March 12, 2021 Posted March 12, 2021 A browser or curl will not be a good test as these things are managed by process. So the Emby server will need to have access. You are on MacOS, correct? That is going to be locked down pretty tight and I'm sure there will be some sort of configuration needed to get past its firewall.

(It's not.). And it's High Sierra because that's as high as I can get on this machine, since it's an older Mac Pro. Edited March 12, 2021 by Monkrocker

ebr 16185 Posted March 12, 2021 Posted March 12, 2021 Does this help? https://support.apple.com/guide/mac-help/firewall-preferences-mh11783/10.13/mac/10.13
ebr 16185 Posted March 12, 2021 Posted March 12, 2021 The problem you are having is with an outgoing connection, though. I would turn the firewall back on and configure it appropriately.

Not really and I'm not a Max user. I'd ask if you have any VPN software, any 3rd party virus/malware type software running? How about on your router itself?
Monkrocker 2 Posted March 12, 2021 Author Posted March 12, 2021 It was the VPN. My firewall is off, for the record and always has been. Nothing is being blocked in OR out if the entire firewall is off. Since I don't want to just leave my VPN off, after my Premiere sub is validated (which is it now) can I turn it back on or is this going to be a recurring issue?
Carlo 4561 Posted March 12, 2021 Posted March 12, 2021 OK, was just going to offer to remote in and take a look at things for you. Emby will be checking that address often so it's not a good idea. What VPN service are you running? Many have a split tunnel feature that could be used to avoid this and other problems.

Private Internet Access / PIA
Carlo 4561 Posted March 12, 2021 Posted March 12, 2021 PIA does support Split Tunnel. https://www.privateinternetaccess.com/forum/discussion/34847/introducing-split-tunneling So what you do is setup an Exclusion for Emby so that it doesn't run through the VPN while everything else on the machine does run through the VPN.

Roger that. Thanks. 1
