ErikRedbeard 0 Posted March 10, 2021 Posted March 10, 2021 (edited) I've been looking into converting some of my content to HEVC and AAC with the idea of eventually applying it to an entire library. But I'm having issues with the Original Quality setting defaulting certain videos to 720p while their source is 1080p. And I can see the drop in quality due to it while playing the video. The source is an anime which generally means less color gradients per frame thus lower bitrates and I have a feeling this directly affects the resolution it's thinking the output should be. Running a "conversion" for H264 however works fine and keeps the original resolution. See screenshot for file details and settings used next to it. Edited March 10, 2021 by ErikRedbeard

hugo.lapointe 3 Posted February 19, 2022 Posted February 19, 2022 Hi! I think a have the same problem, but just want to check with you it's not a configuration problem on my part. I'm currently transcoding all my media file to HEVC (H265) with Tdarr, and all my movie are being retranscoded in emby to lower resolution. See example (1080p HEVC 2.8 Mbps => 720p H264 1.4 Mbps) ffmpeg-transcode-8911d4d6-55a4-4bfe-84f1-0dfc4ed4e308_1.txt

hugo.lapointe 3 Posted February 19, 2022 Posted February 19, 2022 Wow! Thanks for your quick answer. Just to confirm. What are the quality setting you're refering to? The client? Here are my current settings : Transcoding Emby Serveur : And on my client (Web Chrome), I choose auto, and the preset 720p - 1.5Mbps is automatically chosen. Can you help me?
Luke 42085 Posted February 20, 2022 Posted February 20, 2022 HI, yes the client settings. Try choosing a specific value if you find that Auto is too conservative for your setup.
