Images missing on Roku

Recommended Posts

Starting about a week ago, most of the images on the Roku app have been replaced with grey boxes, with a few exceptions (eg., the logoart.pngs ). Other clients are working fine - iPad, Android, Web are all displaying images correctly.

Anyone else having a similar issue?

Ok, as a test, if you uninstall the cover art plugin from emby server, then restart the server, does that make a difference?

Uninstalled CoverArt, restarted the server, still no images (except for the logoart.pngs).

Can you show us a picture of the screen when it does this?

I have a TCL Roku TV 7130X and have no problems with images.

I know what is causing this now.

Roku has recently added WEBP as an supported image type. We added the ability to support this in our app but it was causing performance issues. We are re-evaluate how to present WEBP to the Roku again and will have something to address that later. But in the meantime...

Can you try with the URL above which will install the Emby Beta for Roku. Using the Beta app should produce images for you once again. Let us know if this works for you. Thanks for reporting.

NOTE: PNG was not affected which is why your LOGO had no issues with display.

Installed the Emby Beta, but still getting the same results. Most images aren't displaying.

Out of curiosity, I replaced one of the movie posters with a PNG version and that renders perfectly. So at least that confirms that PNGs are not being effected. Also explains why my custom My Media images are working, they're all PNGs, too.

And thanks for all your help!

I see the urls in your server log containing the accept parameter for webp but I thought we removed that...

Hi. Can you please confirm the version number of your Roku app (from the settings screen)?

Hey. I wasn't sure if you meant the version number for Roku or the Emby app running on Roku, so here's both:

Okay, I thought that change had made into the last release but, unfortunately, it was just after it.  We will get a new beta up that should resolve this for you.

Supercool, and thanks a bunch!

On a side note, I work on the design side of software dev and you all are more responsive and professional than many of the folks I work with. Kudos all around!

Hi.  Can you please test this with the latest beta version of the app?

Thanks.

That worked! All the images are rendering as expected and everything looks awesome.

Thanks again, you all rock!
