GregMo 24 Posted March 8, 2021 Posted March 8, 2021 I'm running Emby server on Windows and I have a RPi that I'm running Chrome on to access the server's web client. I have a gamepad connect to the RPi that I'm trying to use to skip to the next chapter or track with. Problem is, the web client will some times capture the gamepad buttons and when it does, it will do some odd things like quit playing and immediately escape back to the home screen. Is there a trick to getting a gamepad to working with Emby, or at least, getting Emby to ignore it so my macros for it can act like keyboard inputs?
RanmaCanada 500 Posted March 8, 2021 Posted March 8, 2021 Use kodi instead? You can install Embuary in Kodi, and use your gamepad that way instead of using the web client.

Also, why should the answer to one flaw in one piece of software be to install two other pieces of software to correct it?
Luke 42089 Posted March 9, 2021 Posted March 9, 2021 We can always add an option to disable gamepad input. It sounds like it doesn't make sense for you given the macros.

I just gave you a solution, then you threw "other" things onto the pile. sorry.
Luke 42089 Posted March 10, 2021 Posted March 10, 2021 I think the easy answer is we just should have options to disable it. That will help a lot of people. Then perhaps down the line remapping input commands. 1

I never demanded anything and if anything is unorthodox here it is that the web client is reading the gamepad at all, especially with no way to configure the same or no instructions, at least that I am aware of, on what purpose it serves that we might make use of it. Your solution was to add bloat on top of bloat to fix something that is an easy fix for the devs and that's never a good option.
Xhatry 0 Posted March 26, 2021 Posted March 26, 2021 I use a program called Controller Companion which lets me use my Xbox gamepad as a mouse universally, but when things aren't fullscreen and have some kind of compatibility with gamepads, it doesn't only moves the mouse but it also tries to navigate the interface the way it's supposed to be with a gamepad and it can't be disabled. I use Chrome. It would be awesome to be able to disable gamepad functionality on Emby, so I can use the gamepad the way I really want. Thank you!
