kaledi 41 Posted March 6, 2021 Posted March 6, 2021 How does emby server database behave if I move files/folder to a new location. I have a folder that is very large and I'm thinking of spliting it. Will this cause any issues with the database? Will existing thumbnail images and chapter images need to be re-processed. In otherwords, will the database see the moved files as new entries, or simply as moved?
Happy2Play 9783 Posted March 6, 2021 Posted March 6, 2021 Overall Emby will purge those items and re-added them from the new path. If you do not save images/nfo with media, Emby will have to get the info again on reimport. Chapter images will be remade as the current database id folder is purged when a item no longer exist is specific path. Yes the database sees moved items as New items. Now watched statuses are tracked by providerid not path so this is not lost unless the item has no providerid.
CharleyVarrick 283 Posted March 7, 2021 Posted March 7, 2021 @kaledi Is your situation caused by growing size of library? I used to experience this every 3rd months or so, until I discovered Stablebit DrivePool. Since then, not an issue anymore. 1
