TeamB 2438 Posted March 6, 2021 Posted March 6, 2021 I am converting some episodes to multiple version (3 different bitrates) but the convert action does not let me name the output and when I do the second convert it fails, I am assuming due to the fact there is already a file with that name. How do I do a custom convert and set the output name?
TeamB 2438 Posted March 6, 2021 Author Posted March 6, 2021 super weird, now it looks like convert is completely broken, all I get is it failed with the following in the log 2021-03-06 17:47:16.021 Info Server: http/1.1 POST http://192.168.0.16:8096/emby/Sync/Jobs?X-Emby-Client=Emby Web&X-Emby-Device-Name=Firefox&X-Emby-Device-Id=TW96aWxsYS81LjAgKFdpbmRvd3MgTlQgMTAuMDsgV2luNjQ7IHg2NDsgcnY6NjAuMCkgR2Vja28vMjAxMDAxMDEgRmlyZWZveC82MC4wfDE1MjczMDk2NTk0Njc1&X-Emby-Client-Version=4.5.4.0. We need to improve the UI/messaging around this, but essentially, there was no work that needed to be done.
TeamB 2438 Posted March 6, 2021 Author Posted March 6, 2021 yeah I think I worked that out after a while, even though it was "failing" it had decided it did not have to do anything, failed successfully This is so confusing to use, its like it has a mind of its own, it looks like it is using a lot of the internal playback logic to pick the best transcode options, if I had to guess I would say you are using the same classes to build the ffmpeg transocde command as the standard streaming ones and trying to reuse some of the logic, this is fine but it looks like it is making decisions all by itseft on what it thinks is the test way to convert. I think the UX need a lot of work, some points of confusion and pain: the conversion refers to downloading and transferring all over the place instead of converting You can only stop a conversion from the dashboard not from the list conversions page when it fails there is no reason I am now having a problem that it is ignoring my custom settings and doing a mobile transcode, I think this is due to the above where it is just deciding what it thinks I need instead of what I have asked for again. Also an option to mux the Subtitles into the actual file would be good. Separate files is ok but I want mine in the mvk file. A way of setting up a profile instead of having to set the options over and over again would be also good.
Luke 42085 Posted March 11, 2021 Posted March 11, 2021 I'm going to update this so that if you manually schedule a conversion on a single file, it will always perform it, even if the file already meets the criteria. And yes, agreed, the whole UI for it needs to be redesigned. 1
