outlaw69uk 7 Posted March 5, 2021 Posted March 5, 2021 Hey guys So, short version is, I have changed a lot of my video library to strm files, so they are held remotely, rather than taking up space on my machine. I am noticing, its become painfully slow starting up, and, then we get a lot of buffering etc throughout. Seems a bit odd. Running through both the web interface on main pc, and also on my android tv box. As a comparison, if I run the same strm files through, for example, tivimate on the android box, its almost instant that it picks up. Same with kodi, so, whats causing Emby to slow everything down? Something in my settings? As a side note, collections are all in a single row now on the android tv app (and roku funnily enough), thats horrible! haha, seriously, is their no way to change that? with a large library you have to scroll for days to find something, rather than scrolling down with the old grid (which, is still on the web ui)
Luke 42083 Posted March 5, 2021 Posted March 5, 2021 Hi, the difference with strm is that the first time you play it will probe the media info to determine the best way to play, whereas with actual media files it will do this during the library scan.
outlaw69uk 7 Posted March 5, 2021 Author Posted March 5, 2021 (edited) Ah, so, it should be quicker second time around? I noticed that in the movies section at least, it shows the video type and audio type after I have played it once Edited March 5, 2021 by outlaw69uk 1
KingMovies 8 Posted March 6, 2021 Posted March 6, 2021 What do you use to create the strm files? thank you.
