Radtech81951 0 Posted March 4, 2021 Posted March 4, 2021 Hi, First things first... I'm very new to Emby, and somewhat computer savvy, but not to the point that most are on here. So please dumb down your answers slightly if you would. My goals are to be able to connect to my server from outside my network, and also to be able to use Emby while using express VPN. I signed up for Premiere yesterday, and tried to connect from my phone without wifi. It seemed to work, but my reception is horrible at my house, so I will truly be able to test it later today. I do have the port forwarding setup through my nighthawk r9000 router. My question regarding this issue is, what is the difference between connect and premiere? Do I need connect if I signed up premiere? Secondly, I use ExpressVPN on my PC which hosts my server. I would like to keep it running while connecting to my emby server off network. However I can't locate the emby server when I try to setup the split tunneling (which I know little about). Is there an easier way to use Emby with ExpressVPN? Thanks for your help.

Emby Connect and Premiere are two unrelated topics: Connect is just a way of connecting to your server and it is tied to User(s): https://support.emby.media/support/solutions/articles/44001160340 Premiere is a set of features for your server, in addition to basic ones, and is tied to your server: https://support.emby.media/support/solutions/articles/44001162223-emby-premiere Premiere matrix will show you what does subscription include for server and various client apps: https://support.emby.media/support/solutions/articles/44001173099-emby-premiere-feature-matrix So, neither of them depends on the other - you can have both Connect and Premiere, you can have only one of them or you can have none - as their application is on different areas. As per your second query, to run a server behind VPN, you need to setup a static port forwarding with your VPN provider (and not all of them provide that possibility, have no idea for ExpressVPN), read through here, maybe someone mentioned it: And/or contact your provider directly. Cheers 3
