Inconsistent nfo creation in DVR library?

I've noticed a bit of oddness in my DVR library.  Any program that is recorded by emby will have a nfo file generated in the directory.  If I find a missing episode that won't air again in the near future and get a copy via other means and manually put it in that same directory it does not.  The media is detected, added correctly and can be watched.

I don't really mind the missing nfo,  but wondered if that is intentional.  I am running the beta server and have noticed this across several versions.

Hi, for non dvr content you'll need to enable it in library settings.

Thanks!

Did the option undergo a name change at some point?  I took a stab and checked the box for metadata saver and the manual items now get a 'local' nfo.

I would have thought that if that option was not set, that DVR content would not generate nfo files either.

Right but you didn't record it from Emby so you won't get Emby defaults for it.
But the RECORDING Library settings can be setup to use meta providers and save graphics and NFO.

Thanks, that all makes sense, but then begs the question how to turn off the default for recordings?  Consider that rhetorical.  It is a minor annoyance and not worth taking time away from developing the new TV feature set.

If you're talking about the DVR Recordings you can't and won't want to.

The NFO created by the DVR process will pull down the meta-data from the EPG and then only use meta-data providers for some things not included like cast.

On occasion you will see Guide Data episode numbering that is different then what meta-data providers sometimes show.  So if setting up to record the series you won't hit issues with misnumbering.
