Tau512 15 Posted March 2, 2021 Posted March 2, 2021 I'm new user to emby, coming from MythTV but this doesnt appear to be possible or a current request. With Mythtv you can use numbers to skip forward/back that many minutes. simply tap in 5 and forward/back would skip 5minutes in that direction from the current position. ie: if you are 3:27 into a playback and you skip forward 5minutes then it would jump you 8:27. you'd also be able to use double/triple digits; '30' would skip forward 30 minutes. Having that ability in Emby would be awesome. UK TV does not appear to have reliable commercial markings (so comm skipping not suitable), and the fixed skip that can be defined in the menu is good but a bit limiting as you have to keep pressing forward/back to skip through. Having a user defined in-playback skip method would be useful for various scenarios: where programs have intros/'in this episode' previews etc that are in every episode, you can skip 2 minutes (or however long a specific program has this content). for long sports coverage (eg 7hour tv schedule for BTCC motorsport) there are a LOT of commercials over this period. you'd be able to skip the 4min commercials. Some support races in this coverage are also not desired so you could also skip forward 20minutes.
Luke 42079 Posted March 3, 2021 Posted March 3, 2021 Hi there, yes we are planning on adding these guide features in upcoming updates. thanks for the feedback.
EZEd 60 Posted March 3, 2021 Posted March 3, 2021 @Luke, just to clarify, what he's asking for is not a guide feature. He's referring to while playing a current video, especially recorded TV content... instead of using the skip forward/skip backward or fastforward/fastrewind buttons on a remote, being able to actually key in a number to represent an amount of time to skip forward or backward. WMC had this feature for sure. I'm sure some other DVRs and software players have/had this feature as well. This worked in addition to the skip forward and skip back backward functions that had discrete time steps for both. WMC also was able while playing a video of any type (movies, family video or recorded TV file) to allow punching in a 2-digit number and pressing the skip fw/bk key and the video file would advance or go back that number of 2-digit minutes within the file. I do believe that is the request. Just jumping in to help clarify. 1
