metropical 38 Posted March 1, 2021 Posted March 1, 2021 (edited) is it possible to add music from my server but skip the album artwork or make it very minimal? Or does Emby store or find it differently that iTunes or other apps? My iTunes Album artwork is a 5G folder, not that it's a lot of space amongst 4T of space, but as I remember it took a long time to link the right art with each LP. And the art being there or not is not a concern. Edited March 1, 2021 by metropical
Ronstang 294 Posted March 2, 2021 Posted March 2, 2021 (edited) All of my music is tagged with album art inside the metadata and when I added some to Emby to test it my artwork showed up immediately. I would venture a guess that most modern software uses the artwork in the tags, I know my phone does. Now, I don't know if Emby does anything with my album art like saving it to the server for quick access or other purposes but if it does it is all automatic and of minimal size. Music on the server, or any application for that matter, without album art is almost useless to me at least. Which is why I spent so much time getting my tags all correct and making sure I had all my artwork correct and of a uniform size etc. Now no matter how I use my music it all shows up with all the info and artwork I need. Do you have the artwork in the tags of each music file? If you don't you may want to use a good tagging program to add it and so you can enjoy your music fully. Now, if your music doesn't contain artwork in the tags and you don't care whether it is there or not and you are more concerned about space savings then you can go into the dashboard and under "Library" you can select your music library and there are a bunch of settings on how metadata is handled and if you don't want Emby to download any artwork you can simply turn all that off with a few mouse clicks. metropical 38 Posted March 2, 2021 Author Posted March 2, 2021 cool.. thanks mate. that answers all the questions. most of what I have is fully tagged already from iTunes. I'll try adding and see what comes.
Ronstang 294 Posted March 2, 2021 Posted March 2, 2021 No problem, I hope you get it the way you want it.
