UCM_1 10 Posted February 27, 2021 Posted February 27, 2021 I recently had to restore my Emby virtual machine system to an earlier snapshot, and I used the plugin "System Configuration Backup" to restore most of the settings to what I had just prior to restoring. It doesn't appear that the settings for what TV series should be recorded were backed up/restored. Does that portion not get backed up with the plugin? And, if that is the case, how should I go about backing up those settings in the future? Thanks.
Carlo 4561 Posted February 28, 2021 Posted February 28, 2021 Hi, no the backup is designed to backup the CONFIGURATION of the system not the specific data. So to answer your question you will want to backup your DATA directory that contains the database files.
UCM_1 10 Posted February 28, 2021 Author Posted February 28, 2021 I will look into doing that, thank you. Would it be all that difficult to add it to the plugin though? It already appears to backup User Playstate, Favorites, Resume, etc, as well as playlists. It would seem (to me) that what is wanted to be recorded would fit in with those items already being backed up.
Carlo 4561 Posted March 1, 2021 Posted March 1, 2021 Problem is you can't backup a database in use easily as a file copy. So it's best to shutdown Emby copy the folder and restart Emby which is usually less than a 1 minute ordeal. How often you need to actually backup your database files depends on how often you're updating/adding files. Even with a very active system I've fine with once a week to even once a month backup. Worst case is a file scan finds new files.
Mibok 158 Posted March 1, 2021 Posted March 1, 2021 For playstates you can use the trakt plugin. That is what i use and it works wonderfully
Carlo 4561 Posted March 1, 2021 Posted March 1, 2021 Watched status can be backed up so that is covered.
