GoldenSpider 12 Posted February 27, 2021 Posted February 27, 2021 I just recently discovered Emby, having used Plex beforehand but finding emby a better experience after Plex started putting ads and making it wholly confusing to get to *my* content. but i cant seem to connect to my Emby server on anything other then the computer that is running it. I tried my phone (Iphone XS Max. IOS 14.4) with both safari in putting the ip address into the nav bar and by using the Emby app. and I've tried using my Apple TV with the emby app. when using the app on both devices it says "cannot connect, ensure the server is running and try again' and when i try just putting the ip into safari it errors out immediately . My server is running, In fact I can use the computer that has the server on it to not only play my content on the website (google chrome) but also to other devices in my home through chromecast (roommates have a Roku while I have Apple TV). I've followed all the instructions on the connectivity help page to no avail.

Does your server show on your devices or you're inputting IP:port manually? What does your Dashboard show under Local (LAN) address?
ebr 16187 Posted February 27, 2021 Posted February 27, 2021 Hi. The questions from GrimReaper are all good. What you describe is usually an indication of the firewall blocking communications.
Carlo 4561 Posted February 28, 2021 Posted February 28, 2021 @GoldenSpider Do you have an update for us? Did the help given above get you squared away and working?
GoldenSpider 12 Posted March 3, 2021 Author Posted March 3, 2021 Hi, sorry i was having trouble finding the forums again, I already checked the firewall perms on windows defender and my personal antivirus and both ports are set to allowed. the server shows on my devices yes but when i try to connect it says.. Odd i went back to my phone to see what it was giving as an error and it seems to be working now and it looks like its working now on the Apple TV as well. I don't know why its working now, maybe it just took a couple days for the firewall changes to proc. Thanks!
