Emby Server Port Forwarding/Mapping Issue

@KLF&TLF if you're just looking for basic (unencrypted) HTTP, then all you need to do is forward WAN 8096 to LAN 8096 on your Emby Server IP that you covered up in the image above, eg. 192.168.1.100

If you want to do it securely (encrypted) HTTPS, you'll need a domain name, a SSL certificate to load and forward extra port 8920

I have to go to hospital so want to take Emby with me

If you need something working in a pinch, HTTP should do the job. I would just get that working first.

See how you go.

Assuming your server IP is 192.168.1.100 then you want the options to look like this:

Then just add it.  Make sure Emby's Network->Allow remote connections to this Emby Server is enabled (green checkbox).
You should then be able to go to www.canyouseeme.org and run a test on port 8096 and get a success message meaning it should work.

@cayarsI have tried this and played with my Destination IP address as my router is the 192 but when I go to Can you see me it tells me my IP is different and I have used that IP as well to test. Sometimes I really hate technology

I am a complete idiot here as neither yours @cayars or @seanbuffare working. I want to kill telstra as they are useless.

OK so what I have tried just now and neither option is working. I have tried it together and separately. Can you see me can't see me but thought I would double check by using my phone on data to test and same results.

These are all the relevant screenshots:

Do I need IP address in Emby network? (Sometimes I feel so dumb when this is really simple)

Thanks @seanbuffI think that has done it. I have tested on my phones data and I am able to play so now I am getting someone to try 500ks away.

BUT THANK YOU for all your assistance on a Saturday afternoon (hopefully your not isolating like I am)

Spoke to soon, now without changing anything its not working again so going to give it a few hours to potentially populate as the hamster is sleeping at Telstra this afternoon ;)

For now turn off UPnP in the router as well as NAY-PMP Enabled and save that.

In Emby go to network menu and search for "Enable automatic port mapping" option. Make sure it is disabled here as well.
Now go to the Dashboard and it should give you the local IP address. What is it?
It will most likely start with 192.168.0.?

This is your Emby and possibly Plex media server IP (if running on the same machine). This IP should never change but stay the same.  We can see from above it's had a few different IPs.

You will want to find an IP address on your network that isn't in use. You could open a command prompt (windows key R, then type cmd) to get a command prompt.
Now type "ping 192.168.0.2".  If it fails that means nothing is using that address.  If you get response times back repeat with ping 192.168.0.3 and work you way up the numbers.

Now once you've found an unused IP address we want to go back to the router. Find the configuration section to set private or reserved IP addresses for IPv4.  Then most likely you will have a screen where you can pick the computer by name and manually assign it the IP from above.

Once that's done you will need to either pull the ethernet cable for a couple of seconds and put it back in or you could just restart the computer. When it restarts load up Emby and make sure it has this new IP address.

Now we know we won't have an IP that's changing inside your network for the media server.  You can now try reconfiguring the IP Forwarding by editing the existing records to make sure they use this new address.

Once more test at www.canyouseeme.com and see if you get a success.

Let us know how you make out.
If you're still have problems, hove your mouse over my profile pic and choose messages on the popup box to send me a message.
We can setup a remote session and I can help you with this.

@TurnerJo, did you get this sorted? If I have read enough you are in Australia using Telstra as well, I can't get mine to work is there any suggestions you can give me. I am NBN Telstra as well

Hi, yes I did but I'm in the UK on talk talk. It involved removing and just reconfiguring the ports on both emby and the router and remembering to restart both each time as even though the router said the setting was saved it didn't apply it until a restart

@cayarsI have DM'd you

I sent you instructions for us to do a remote session to try and get this resolved for you.
Let me know here if you have any questions or can't find the PM.
