kkhan 16 Posted February 22, 2021 Posted February 22, 2021 I have had some inconsistencies propagating in the emby database as highlighted in the linked topic. The simplest solution but also the most onerous is to simply rebuild the libraries - after all the reason for the above is that I have not done a clean rebuild for 7 years. However, I cannot as the libraries are so extensive that it will take a very long time (my photo library is several hundred thousand raw canon 5dm3 and mk4 images and the music library is also extensive). I would prefer to use a database editor to manual correct the odd inconsistency. Can anyone recommend a free tool?
PenkethBoy 2068 Posted February 22, 2021 Posted February 22, 2021 do you have any experience with databases? its not going to be a simple delete that or tweak this you have to find the problem - not straight forward and then randomly editing stuff is likely to get you in a worse situation but if you want to play - make a backup first of the library db - with emby OFF then DB Browser (Sqlite) is your starting point as Luke said just remove the album artists you have an issue with and re add them first before you open a can of worms
kkhan 16 Posted February 23, 2021 Author Posted February 23, 2021 Thanks. Yes I am aware that it is not simple but I am computer literate (C++) so I will play around with it and see where I get to. Luke's suggestion was the very first thing I tried. I removed the albums in questions; rescanned the library and then added them back in but the inconsistency remained. I also tried to remove all the albums for that particular Album Artist, scanned library and then re-added them but the same result.
Carlo 4561 Posted February 24, 2021 Posted February 24, 2021 Try to edit the database for this sounds like a very bad idea to me. Even if you were to nail all edits perfectly and not cause any harm, there is no guarantee the very next library scan won't put the same info back again. It would be better to fix the source of the problem.
