Dual Network interfaces/Downloading

Has anyone used Emby with dual network interfaces on separate (firewalled) subnets?

I need to keep traffic segregated between my LAN and my WIFI network and have my Emby server running on a Pi4, using an interface on each network.

With the default setting the Lan side works well, but the WIFI side not so well.  Clients on the WIFI find the server, but none of them (Chrome, Roku, Apple, Android) can stream smoothly. and intermittently the server could not be found at all. Or would be listed but the client would not connect, at the same time the clients on the LAN were working fine.

I added the WLAN ip address into the network settings where you can override the default Ip presented to the clients and presto the WIFI devices can connect and stream, and the LAN side continues to function.

However, the download to apps does not seem to be working.  The download task is created but then gets stuck with the message "ready to transfer".

Is there someone who can explain the mechanics of the download feature or point me to a place were this is explained to help me troubleshoot it?

I am running the current Beta 4.2.0.26.

Hi, which app are you using to download to?

Have you started the app on that device?

I am using the emby app for IOS. and i have tried starting the download from both the app and from the server with the same result. the message is a ready to download, but the file never starts to transfer or is there another step i need to do?

I personally don't use IOS so I can't say but maybe someone else can jump in who knows.

Android client has similar issues - it stalls at "Transfering" but never gets beyond 0 percent.

Does the file transfer happen outside of the app, using some sort of file path mapping?

No it's done through the app itself.

Hi, does your server dashboard display the correct lan address for your devices to use?

Posted

The Dashboard displays the WLAN ip address which i set in the network settings.  If i remove it it defaults to the Ethernet port.

Since my last post, the download completed to the Ipad, it happened overnight so it may be that there is a time lapse, or long running process that needs to happen before the download actually occurs.

So is the address it displays the correct one that the apps should be using?
