red_ 12 Posted February 17, 2021 Posted February 17, 2021 (edited) Hi, is it in any way possible to Direct Play to Chromecast while playing a non 1st (default) audio track? I'm getting Direct Play when playing the first (default) audio track. That's good. If the 2nd audio track is default it will always trigger Direct Stream or Transcoding. Even when playing the 1st audio track. If both audio track 1 and 2 are default, Direct Play will happen when selecting the 1st track but again Transcoding will be triggered after selecting the 2nd audio track. Note that in this scenario we could assume that all streams are playable by Chromecast. E.g. h264 1080p L4.1 video + stereo aac audio. Already did some Googling but couldn't find any helpful information or workarounds. This page also doesn't say anything about how to cope with dual audio: https://support.emby.media/support/solutions/articles/44001161600-chromecast Thanks! Edited February 17, 2021 by red_
red_ 12 Posted March 3, 2021 Author Posted March 3, 2021 So, reading around on this forum tells me this is theoretically (and hopefully) possible via the Chromecast profile which is not editable by the end user itself but must be done by for example @Luke? Because it is embedded in the receiver application: (https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/31323-chromecast-please-remove-it-from-default-make-new-profile-for-all-chromecast/&do=findComment&comment=53829) Do you think this will be possible Luke?
Luke 42085 Posted June 4, 2021 Posted June 4, 2021 Hi @red_ the Chromecast developer api does not support selecting secondary embedded audio tracks, so this is why you see transcoding if you select a secondary audio track. Please let us know if this helps. Thanks !
red_ 12 Posted June 5, 2021 Author Posted June 5, 2021 Hi @Luke, thanks. That's a good answer to my question. Not the one I hoped for of course, but now it's clear this isn't possible.
