OlivetIsa 19 Posted February 15, 2021 Posted February 15, 2021 Hi guys, I have a recent issue with movies genre getting duplicated for example a movie is tagged with the metadata Comedy but it creates a new genre instead of being located under the original Comedy genre just like other movies. I don’t know if I’m clear enough so I attach a picture to show what’s really happening for Comédie and Comique genres. Hope someone can help me find where it’s coming from.

Wild guess: some movies have genre Comedy translated to Comedie, and some have actual Comedie in genre field?
OlivetIsa 19 Posted February 15, 2021 Author Posted February 15, 2021 Not really sure since I created the tag Comique genre.

OlivetIsa 19 Posted February 15, 2021 Author Posted February 15, 2021 Yes it’s mine. In fact when editing the metadatas, under genres by clicking on + and adding as a value Comique. It worked perfectly for most files except one and same thing for Comédie.

Ah, ok, now I get it, you created custom genre. But to compare, what genre do the items in your first Comedie genre folder have? Comedy or Comedie?
OlivetIsa 19 Posted February 15, 2021 Author Posted February 15, 2021 Both have the Comédie tag this is why I don’t know what’s happening

GrimReaper 4749 Posted February 15, 2021 Posted February 15, 2021 Just now, jlr19 said: He might have one with an empty space after Comédie He might, I'm trying to determine wheter it's a typo or some othet issue. My other suggestion would be to delete genre from item in second folder and re-add it by Ctrl+C genre from metadata of item in first folder? 1
CharleyVarrick 283 Posted February 15, 2021 Posted February 15, 2021 What I'm wondering is do those genre folder show same exact content, or else one contains hundreds of files and the other just one.

I'd say they have different content, basis above.
OlivetIsa 19 Posted February 15, 2021 Author Posted February 15, 2021 Thanks for your answers guys I’ll try these tips soon as I get back home and I let you know if it works or not
OlivetIsa 19 Posted February 15, 2021 Author Posted February 15, 2021 So I got it work for Comédie by erasing the genre for the movie which was having the issue in the metadata manager, then adding back the Comédie genre. Now it’s located with the other movies of the same genre. Just have to try with Comique genre to see if it’s working as well. 1
