Michael1952 1 Posted February 15, 2021 Posted February 15, 2021 Hi everyone, I am stuck again setting the permissions for the folder Films. I don't understand why the commands chmod or setfacl won't change the permissions for the folder. Can someone fill me in? I can't set up my folders for my library. I can't select the Films folder. Thanks for any help on this. I know it's like I am beating a dead horse but I had to redo my Ubuntu and set up Emby again and ran into this problem again.
Luke 42078 Posted February 15, 2021 Posted February 15, 2021 Hi there, have you taken a look at this?
BobbyCR 13 Posted February 16, 2021 Posted February 16, 2021 chmod 775 -R Films being a folder it needs to be recursive, try that and let us know how it goes. also keep in mind that even if the folder Films has the right permissions you still may not see the folder from Emby as the parent folder should also have the right permissions to be accessed, so you may want to try that command on /media/MIchael as well.
Michael1952 1 Posted February 17, 2021 Author Posted February 17, 2021 Thanks for the responses folks. I got hung up on another project and didn't get back till now. Thanks Luke I read the post you suggested and it cleared up a lot of questions I had. BobbyCR. Hi, I did run that as a recursive command and it didn't seem to help the situation. I am in the process of moving all of my Emby server to a new dedicated computer and will get back to this as the situation (if the situation), arises again.
